Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Phones

We should have phones. The game can make up a phone number for every user with chat (To view it press P), and you can click a button in the lobby to dial one, and a small message appears on the players screen saying "You have X calls" and the player can view who is calling before he clicks it, then he either block it or he can click it to bring a miniature chat board on their screen and they can have a small private chat there, for a limited time. To get another 10 minutes, it costs 500 energy. To get infinite time, it costs 100 gems. You will also start out with 120 minutes. They will also see a Hang Up button, which ends it, and we can also disable calls if we don't want them. We can also enter a command in the box (both have to enter the same command, to know if in agreement) which will call another user to join the phone conversation. Also, we can buy an option to send text messages with our phones, too. Then when someone is having a phone conversation, it shows if they have any messages. Messages will be limited too. You start out with 10 messages, and to buy another 5 it will cost 600 energy. The phones will also have batteries, so they should come with a charger and if they get low batteries there can be a plug in button, which you can't talk on phones while it's plugged in. We can also buy new batteries for 2000 energy each, and we can switch matteries at anytime and place the other batteries in another charger. We can also upgrade our charger's speeds, and of course the price goes higher for faster. We can also have a contacts button, Where we can add contacts two ways: 1. Clicking a button next to a user in a conversation that says "Add To My Contacts" and 2. Entering a phone number into a box. While we are on a phone conversation, other players should be able to know, so while we talk, a phone appears next to our smiley, which notes that they are on their phone. We can change our phone's color for 1000 energy. We can add designs/textures for 2500 energy. We can have new text colors to add, to talk in color, for 800 energy each color. We can also have a minimize button, to put the conversation to the side and we can click it again to continue. We can also call 911 to have a shortcut to call the level owner, unless he has no chat. We can also call 811 to ask the owner for the code, chat or no chat. They can click a yes or no button, then if yes it will say "Yes. The code is XXXXX" and if no it says "No.". Also, if we post a link in the conversation, it is clickable and we can go to the link in a new tab. We can also block links to make sure we never go to the link again, and we can block users so they can't call us. Well, that's all I got for now.

I am sorry if this is tl;dr.

Re: Phones

hmm sounds like a nice idea. i dont think we should have limited minutes, because i spend at least 2 hours in tinychat/coldstorm/irc each day. and a charger is annoying.

Can you split up that giant wall into smaller paragraphs please? I normally read long posts, but a wall like that is just crazy...

Re: Phones

I don't see why this is better than the regular old pm'ing system being implemented. Actually, I think this idea is really bad, in comparison. It's more interesting, but why should we have a limit?

I love this idea! +rep... This would be so cool, except unfortunately I don't have chat.

Re: Phones

Wait... charging is pointless. It's not a real phone.
Will you actually be TALKING to people? If so, then no.
This is just an overrated PM system.

Re: Phones

great idea. long time to program. unlimited should be for 5000 energy. you dont need chat for the phone. you start out with only being able to call one person. 1500 for another line. you can have 4 lines altogether. (chat with 4 others) if you have 1 line, another has 4, they can call you and the others and you can still chat with everyone. +REP

How about you change it to this?

superk wrote:

We should have phones. Every user with chat would have a phone number (when in the lobby you can view this by pressing "P").

In the lobby, you could press a button to call someone. You would either dial a phone number, select a phone number/user from a list, select a number from your contacts list, or search for a user or phone in a text box (like the lobby, would limit results from the list). Once you dialed, you could add the number to your Contacts list. The player on the receiving end would see a small message appear on their screen saying "You have a call from username." The other player could then accept the call, or refuse it.

If they accepted the call, then a pop up menu would appear where both users would chat to each other. There would be a timer up top for the amount of time left in the call (The person calling would upgrade their max time by 10 minutes for 500 energy in the shop (you start out with 120 mins). To get infinite time, it costs 100 gems). To hang up at any time, either person would click the hang up button. If the check box next to to the button was checked, then that user would be ignored. You could click the minimize button to put the conversation to the side, and resume it later.

If you want another user to join the conversation, then you could click an "Add" button to show a menu exactly like the one for calling. You would select the user/phone number, and the person on the other end of the phone could agree or disagree. If he/she agrees, then the person is invited to the conversation!

I don't fully understand the "Messages idea", so I cant explain it.

But the phone has to take batteries! The phone will automatically charge when not in use, and you can buy another pack of batteries/charger that you can switch to, and therefore charge the other pack

In a room, you can dial 911 as a direct shortcut to the level owner, or 811 to ask the level owner for the code (No chat necessary).

Customizable options:

Energy of Phone Related:
New batteries & charger - 2000
Upgrading charger's speed - ? (price is higher for faster)
Max time +10 - 500
Infinite time - 100 gems

Color of Phone:
Designs - 2500 each
Textures - 2500 each
Phone Colors - 1000 each

Text Color:
Different color to talk in - 800

Hope this all makes sense to everybody, if I missed anything, please let me know!( will try and improve it.)

Re: Phones

This is, no offence, a really stupid idea. It's utterly pointless and is all glamorous. Why not just keep it simple?

You went really in-depth with it, which is always a good thing, but it's just unreasonable for EE.
First of all, you could just talk to someone free of charge on MSN, Tinychat, IRC, or a bunch of other things.
Secondly, paying for time and messages? ...Just... what? That's ridiculous. Paying 100 gems for infinite messaging? HELL NO. I'm not spending a dime on EE, and I never will again.

To be honest, it sounds like you just made an idea so you'll have something to buy for bragging rights.
Why make some insane and complex thing when a simple pm system would do? EE is a simple game, it shouldn't have a complex part that would probably be harder to code than the actual game itself.

Just, no. I can see how it would appeal to kids, though, as we can see by some people agreeing. It's not realistic, though.
