Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Dihydrogen Monoxide: Kill it With Fire

(This may look like a bot's work but it's not, obviously)
Here's the facts:

Dihydrogen monoxide:

- is called "hydroxyl acid", the substance is the major component of acid rain.
- contributes to the "greenhouse effect".
- may cause severe burns.
- is fatal if inhaled.
- contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.
- accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.
- may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.
- has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.
- According to the World Health Organization, it caused over 388,000 deaths in 2004 alone
- In many countries, it is one of the leading causes of death for children under 12 years old.   For example, in the United States, it is the second leading cause of death (after motor vehicle crashes) in children 12 and younger

Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:

- as an industrial solvent and coolant.
- in nuclear power plants.
- in the production of Styrofoam.
- as a fire retardant.
- in many forms of cruel animal research.
- in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.
- as an additive in certain "junk foods", soda pops, and other food products.

So what are you waiting for?   Contact your local congressperson and tell them to ban DHMO NOW!

So is it like so little that you can't notice, or does it actually have a noticeable amount that could kill me in large portions?

I'm waiting for...I don't know my local congressperson. If I figure out I'll try to tell them to ban it. I don't want cruel animal research, protect the animals. And I definitely don't want to eat it, WTFudge is wrong with people!

It's in small amounts in foods, but it is in large quantities in sodas.   Don't look for it on ingredient labels, though: sneaky food manufacturers use different names for it.   You can't die from sodas unless you drink gallons at a time.   Also, don't drink sodas too much, period: the caramel coloring is a carcinogen, that can cause cancer if you drink about one a day for...forty years.   But drink two a day and it's twenty years, four a day and it's down to ten years.

Your plan won't work! How will we defend ourselves now from the DHMO?!

No. Also, you cant kill dihydrogen monoxide, you need to use chemical reactions to neutralize it.

Would it be the sodium benzoate, modified food starch, sodium polyphosphates, glycerol ester of rosin, or the brominated vegetable oil on my Fanta can?

It's insanity is what it is! I'm so glad my family is smart enough to stay away from it when we can.

EDIT: Great website highlighting the issue. http://www.dhmo.org

Re: Dihydrogen Monoxide: Kill it With Fire

I propose we make a law that requires companies not to use dihydrogen monoxide. This insanity has to stop!!!

Re: Dihydrogen Monoxide: Kill it With Fire

That definitely would be a great fix, but why would they do that? They're so caught up in their savings, they don't care about anyone's safety.

Actually, it's inside most of those things, and it has it's own separate name.   Those labelmakers are sneaky as f***.

Also, thanks to Jad for posting the DHMO site to raise awareness.   Let's get it banned!

Re: Dihydrogen Monoxide: Kill it With Fire

Here is a little science lesson for all of you! //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/big_smile

*Yay science!*

Dihydrogen Monoxide is not lethal. Everyone uses it in everyday life. At home, at work, in public places, etc.

Also, Dihydrogen Monoxide is not the proper name for it. you are not supposed to have a prefix to any element name if it has Hydrogen as the first element.

now to get to my point.

Dihydrogen monoxide is H2O... aka water.

Dihydrogen = H2
Monoxide = O

It is 100% safe. You drink it everyday... Now, don't be ashamed, because there has been another group of students (from idk what school) who wanted to do the same thing and they didn't know the facts either.

Thank you for listening to my little science lesson //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

yeah water could be lethal, if you drink like 100 gallons in a day... >_>

plus, it looked like almost everyone posting in this topic did not know what Dihydrogen monoxide (correct term: H2O) is... and wanting to ban it XD wow...

and the "perpetual jerk" is calling me a jerk? that just made me lol XD

Re: Dihydrogen Monoxide: Kill it With Fire

No, you don't need to drink 'like 100 gallons'.
1. You can drown.   Those stats in the OP were all true.
2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KDND#Death … io_contest   She only drank a couple bottles of water and died of water intoxication.
And yeah, I called you a jerk, because you ruined the fun we had going.   Most of us knew what DHMO really was.

I'll even out the -rep if you delete both of your posts.

I hope you know that expression makes no sense in that context.   And you DEFINITELY can't call me a noob.

Actually if you read the whole conversation, you would know that the expression made a whole lot of sense... You think you are so good at posting when all your posts (well most of them) are garbage. You are taking everything out of context and make people think that your are right. and don't say you don't do that, because even YOU know you are doing that.

I just did. -_- lrn2read

Re: Dihydrogen Monoxide: Kill it With Fire

How are my posts garbage?   I don't take stuff out of context.   I only make people think I'm right when I AM right.

And you can't say that my posts are garbage when a good amount of yours are borderline spam.

I only said you can't call me a noob because you are much more of one than I am.

Lock requested so I don't have to deal with this idiocy anymore.

1. read over your post again. Look at how you think you are higher than others. That is annoying.

2. Second line is complete BS. I post when I know I have to (or at least when I want to comment on something)
none of which is spam.

3. Third line: most people who have played EE since the beginning are "pros" (I am one of those) and I am not in any way a noob. I know what I am talking about, and so does many other users. I make sure my posts are as close to 100% of what I would use in everyday life. Useful, business like, intelligent.

So stop being so arrogant and just accept the world as a peaceful community. Show some respect.
