Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Due to people still asking me how to make them I decided to make a more detailed topic. I'll post pics to help explain what I am talking about.
First, plan out what you want; I'm going to make a smiley jump, so do this I need to think of my background and my smiley.
Next, you will need to use a program that can edit or create pics, Ex,; MS paint Paint.net, Gimp or an online one such as Pixrl.
Next open up your chosen program > http://localhostr.com/files/MSIkaP9/png.png <
Then choose your ee back ground > http://localhostr.com/files/bKZzF3h/Ple.png <
Then you will screenshot that area, (Print screen, copy and paste into MS paint, then save it to your desktop)
You can also crop or edit your image while you have in MS paint.
Once you have done that, open up your chosen program, then open your background into you program > http://localhostr.com/files/pbH63zF/Pho.png <
Next choose a smiley you want, you can download all the smileys here,
http://eeforumify.com/viewtopic.php?id=28229
Find the smiley you want. and open it into the same picture as you background > http://localhostr.com/files/RDGbb9I/ting%20.png <
Decide where you want the smiley.
Once you have done that, you can start making the frames, this is very simple, your first frame will be the one you just made, (by placing the smiley on the background)
Then save that frame to an easy to reach place, such as your desktop, it would be best to save the file as a "PNG" file, and name the first frame "1"
Next you will make you second frame, simply by moving the smiley up and across a little bit
then move it again a bit more
Don't forget to save it and label it as "1" for the first frame and "2" for the second, and so on,
once all frames are saved to the desktop you should have something that looks like this.
Like so. Next you will need a program to put the frames together, I use this > http://www.benetonsoftware.com/Beneton_Movie_GIF.php
Once you found a program you like, use the program to put all the frames together http://localhostr.com/files/EF01HHt/Ben … %20GIF.png you can play about with the program and learn stuff, such as how to change the frame delay (The time it takes to the next frame) I've set the first and last frame to 80 and the rest 0.
Next save it to your desktop.
Job done.

It's not the frames that take long, it's the setting up the smilies and background, I could go in more detail about adding chat, hand, ect. If you want me too.
Oh, yes. Can you put a download link for hands please?

Oh, yes. Can you put a download link for hands please?
I have a sheet with all the hands of different smileys, it's not updated, so it may be out of date..

maybe you should use the blue background as another layer, then it's just drag smiley new frame drag smiley new frame.
edit: so if thats what happens if you're taking the picture with a smiley in it and you give the smiley it's own layer, and then the block layer, then background layer, do you get it?

What the point of giving the sky a layer? You are dragging the smiley anyway. you have two layers, the smiley and the BG.
when did i say the sky was a layer, there is only the smiley and bg layers because bg is the sky isn't it?
Yep.
Ugh, I'm making my own animation, and removing the name is so hard. How are you so fast and skillfull at this?
Removing the name?
Uh well, I've made atleast 200 ;P
Erm, I clicked this link: somerandomlinkthatisnowremoved.com and was redirected to a site with close-to-wearing-nothing girls...

That's a good start, maybe trying adding more frames next time
I have a sheet with all the hands of different smileys, it's not updated, so it may be out of date..
Would you be able to list what smiley(s) each hand is for? there are only a few i can tell.
I sure can, but not tonight, I'll put the smiley under it next time.
btw the tutorial really helped. I made an
animation but since its my first it may be
a bit shaky...
Try cropping the white border first
you should see my first gif, don't worry.
other than that it's really good.
