This has been said many times over the last few days. At a time when the Japanese community is in a state of grief, I think it's pretty heartless to link these two events.

Although the Pearl Harbour bombings were awful; keep in mind that they happened like 70 years ago, and using that way of thinking you could wrongfully link other horrific events in the past together too.

Yeah, especially when America provoked that attack 70 years ago when they break Japan's oil resources and to limit their fishing grounds.
As for God "getting back at Japan"; isn't the two atomic bombs America dropped that killed ~150.000-240.000 civilians a good enough "get-back" for an attack that killed ~5000 military?
