[SERIOUS TOPIC] WWII and the Holocaust

Hello, Forums !

For some apparent reason, all the English teachers in the 11th grade decided to teach us about the Holocaust this week. So, as a result, it's the only thing I can think about.

For people who don't know much about WWII, also known as the Holocaust, it was a very, very tragic war. To sum up everything that happened, Adolf Hitler and the German Army teamed up with Japan and Italy to form the Axis Powers. Together, they killed approx. 6 million Jews. Their goal was to take over the world, which they could not carry out.

These concentration camps, where Jews were murdered, is simply heartbreaking. Nazi's shaved Jew's heads, cramped them in small huts, took their clothes away, provided food rarely; it was simply miserable to listen to my teacher talk about life as a Jew. I have no clue WHY Hitler decided that Jews were monsters, for they have done nothing wrong or even dangerous, but nevertheless he was a twisted, horrible man.

What is your opinion about the topic? What would you do if you were in a concentration camp?

My teachers decided to teach about the holocaust quite a while ago for some reason... and we watched the Boy in the Striped Pajamas. I think that Hitler may have found the Jews to either be an easy target, or perhaps they were so widespread in Germany, and held a number of important jobs. They would've been persecuted anyway, as they weren't part of the supposed 'aryan race'.

The Holocaust was a bad time. That's all I could really think of saying about the topic in a whole.
I partially read a biography on Adolf Hitler, and I kind of remember the reason he thought Jews were monsters. Apparently, he had grown up to believe that Jews caused everything bad in the world. I don't remember the years exactly, but when he was young (if I had to guess, 18-25 years old), he applied to some art college or something. Every time he applied, he was rejected. Growing up with the belief Jews caused the bad in the world, he believed that they were behind him getting rejected from the college every time. So basically, he just took his anger out on the Jews by killing 6 million of them.
Terribly sorry if this information isn't completely accurate, I last read the biography about 3 months ago and I never even finished it.
If I were in a concentration camp, honestly I would probably suicide. Sad thing, I know, but I'm very pessimistic, and seeing that there's a chance I could die there, I might as well go out early.

Oh and, we began learning about the Holocaust and whatnot in 4th grade, though it wasn't much. We started to get more into it 7th and 8th grade.

Really, If I was in a concentration camp, I would literally try to get everyone to rally and beat the crap out of the nazis. Yes, it is a possibility, I'm fairly sure there were more Jews then nazis. Even if I do die, who cares? I gave it all.

World War Two! Interesting topic!
In seventh grade, we had to do a huge large annoying project on World War Two in Power Point and it... was... Quite possibly the most excruciating project ever. We had 14 slides and for each slide we were told exactly what to do. It wasn't even for Social Studies! IT WAS FOR LANGUAGE ARTS! Argh!
Anyway, I learned a bunch of stuff from researching it.
Hitler has one testicle. That's a rumor.
Anyway.
Hitler hated Jews because apparently his mother's doctor was a Jew and she died and he thought it was the doctor's fault and as Anshwo mentioned, the art college thing, etc, etc.
He also said that... Okay, well, in that time in Germany, most Jews ran businesses and were a large part in the economy. Hitler blamed all the problems on the Jews. The economy, well, I don't have another example, but he would probably blame any bad weather on the Jews.
He was a persuasive person, very charismatic.
So people believed him.
I think that... well, atleast with being gassed, the Jews... well... uh. They didn't suffer TOO much, compared to being pushed off a cliff for the ones who went to the rock quarries. And I think that the war would have ended earlier if the USA joined earlier, and if we weren't dragged into it by Japan on Pearl Harbor.... Speaking of Japan... We should not have bombed them. That was just stupid of us. Shoulda bombed Germany instead, the core of the problem.
Edit: @ D-Rock. The Jews were malnourished and in bad condition, and didn't know they were going to die, while the Nazis had guns and were saying they were working or something.

Had we not bombed Japan, they would've continued their attacks on the US, possibly changing the outcome of the war.

Which did WE produce? Atomic or Nuclear? Whatever the name, it would've been a difficult task considering the size of Germany's air force compared to America's.

Yes, I've read several times that Hitler was a master of propaganda. Brainwashing germans to thinking Jews were the source to all of Germany's economic problems.

I've heard that before in Social Studies. I'm fairly sure that tax collectors (or most tax collectors, at least) were Jewish people, so Jewish people were already seen in a negative way, subliminally or not. At least that's what the teacher said.

i only had 2 read the first paragragh (acctually second bcuz the first says hello forums!) bcuz... i learnt it in humanities (in our school humanities is R.S, IT, Geography, History and i think theres 1 or 2 more... but i dont listen so i dont no) but if u go 2 the IT room... they make u look at pictures of dead bodys burnt in the holocaust and its gross, plus im very squeemish so it was much more gross 4 me, but if u do get a black and white picture... and in our school we watched the film "the boy in the striped pajamas" at the end . so if u need help with ask me, im not 2 afraid

The WWII is very interesting, indeed.

One thing that I don't like is the way Germany gets portraited in the WWII. They get portraited as if they were the ones whom started the war, but they didn't start the war. The reason why they moved into Poland and Czechoslovakia was because they wanted German soil back, just as the French wanted their French soil back from the Germans after the first world war. It was in fact England whom started the war, by declaring war against Germany.

Another part that is very unknown is the mass-murdering of Germans and Japanese people. USA had concentration camps for Japanese people. Captured German soldiers at the eastern front was sent to concentration camps in Sibiria, I believe it was 500 000 soldiers and about 50 000 soldiers came back alive to Germany. The Allied captured German soldiers from the Western front and put them in concentration camps too. I think that it was about two to four million Germans whom were killed in concentration camps by the Allied. Also, the Allied bombed German cities. They bombed the German city of Dresden during night, and if I'm correct, 200-300 000 people died. The Allied bombers had orders to shoot and drop bombs at everything that moved. Dresden was full of refugees and children and women, they couldn't do anything, since the anti-aircraft regiments had been moved to the eastern front.

With this post I just want to tell everyone to not swallow everything that you hear in school or in the news, use your brains, don't turn into people whom never critizes what you hear! The Allied was no heroes or saviours, neither was the Axis. Both sides committed awful atrocities against each other.

But hitler didnt stop attacking, so the allies got involved. And it must have been covered by the allies so they did not look bad.

One of the reasons the jews were slaughtered (taught to me) was that there has been a long of hatred of the jews for hundreds of years and that at the time Germany had no money. So any jewish bussiness were hated becuase they had money and others didnt. Which is completely biased. Its still sad that WW11 started

No, the Allied attacked Germany because from their point of view, Germany was occupying Poland. They attacked Germany because they didn't want Germany to occupy their lost German soil, but after the war, Poland was occupied by Russia, and the Allied didn't do anything. I would say that the warmongering in this conflict was the British government, because Germany was a threat to Britain. Germany was greater in almost every aspect, besides from Britains "splendid isolation".

I just want to come with a brief answer to your second part, treejoe4.

The jews have always been despised, until today, by most of the world. In Europe, everytime jews had influence in a country, or when the jewish population became to big, the countrys moral values and trademark tried to be changed by to jews (to some extent). Furthermore, since christians are not supposed to use interest, the jews started with the banking (Rothschild family, Wallenberg family for example) and charged the people of Europe with interest. Almost in every single part of the world, at that time, interest was greatly despised and those whom used it was considered as thieves. The reason why interest was so despised was because of a few factors:

1. Christianity didn't allow it.
2. It enslaved people under the banks.
