Terraria

Terraria is similiar to MC (MineCraft) but is in 2D and has much more stuff.

The creators' YouTube channel is demilogic and they upload their progress there.
Their game was not released yet because it is not finished but should be done in June.
As far as I know, it is coded by one person Andrew (Redigit) Spinks.
He started off with VB, but now he uses C# and that's what the game is coded in.
He uses the game engine XNA if anybody is interested.

Although it wasn't released yet there are leaks of it.
I do not know how or by who they were leaked, but I do know that they are a VERY old version of the game and there is not much you can do in it.

The game was shared though with people like Yogscast and PaperBatVG for advertisement purposes.
Since they make a lot of videos of them playing games and got a lot of views, the creators of Terraria decided that they should give a few copies out.

In the game, there is a workbench, a furnace, you can craft, there is much more material than MC. You explore caves. You start off with a few basic tools. There is much more material and monsters than MC. At the moment, there are about 20 monsters.
They don't look alike which makes it good. For example, there are worms, slimes, zombies...
