Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

HOLY MOTHER OF CRAPPING [name] THAT'S AMAZING.
We all need to go to some Google suggestions thing and request that the next version of Chrome support APNGs. F*ck EE, though.

ikr? NERD PARTY!
I reject your reality and substitute my own where pngs can be animated.

If all the EE smileys are PNG then they can also be animated without having to recode a lot of things, right?
it's all in flash, so there really is not any limitation.

I did want to animate it, but Chris said that the current architecture of the smiley system doesn't allow for animation just yet.
itd be a bit hard to make a 3D one, wouldnt it?

lets hope it will soon!

I still doubt that has anything to do with gifs/pngs
From what I can tell all the smiley's are saved to a single file, so that could create a bit of problem with animation.

We'll just have to see, Chris doesn't seem too keen on adding support for animated smilies anytime soon though.

What if... every smiley had exactly 10 frames? Non-animated could just stay the same through those 10 frames.

Then Chrome and IE would be incompatible with EE and they'd be missing out...
Someone go to some Google suggestions page and suggest APNGs in the next version of chrome D:

So? They need to get a better web browser anyways, if they're using IE. Chrome.... well it's new. It'll improve.

As previously established, it doesn't work on Chrome. I had no idea those even existed, though.
As for updating the in-game smileys, are you serious? It's a Flash game. It has nothing to do with animated images, it has to do with Flash. He already has the technology to make animated smileys, though I think it'd be a little tougher to program into Flash (though not too difficult).
Does it work with FireFox 4?
Is this bouncing? If so, then yes.

Yes, but why don't you just check yourself? If you don't use FF4, it's not important enough for you to have to know.

Who are you saying that to? If he doesn't use FF4 then why would he ask, and I hate FF4 (FF3.6 FTW!).

You guys are still using those? I'm on FF 5.0 now. Though I use Chrome 99% of the time.
I use Opera 100% of the time. Doesn't stop me from hatin' on FF4, though.

I was saying that to the person above me, obviously.
Anywho, these are awesome, Chrome needs this, screw IE. Any questions?

I'd cause lag. Or at least use more resources than it had to
I suspect Chris plans on redoing the system for how the game stores/displays smileys before adding animated ones
But I'm not him so I don't actually know
edit: also, FF4 is terrible. I have to use firefox for tinychat(I use chrome otherwise[and opera fails with tinychat for me too, different, so don't bother]) and everythign has been slower since I upgraded to ff4.
... I use IE.
For a second I thought the animation was the beach ball inflating, then I saw the caption.

I won't. No reason. I use Chrome on TC, too. And I use FF3 for spending energy on EE. For whatever reason, I have to wait less between clicks on FF than Opera. But I browse and game with opera.
Anyway, making an APNG with an awesome program I found. Will post later.
EDIT:They support 8bit transparency.
