Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

ANIMATED PNGs EXIST!!!!
Look at this:
That's a PNG. And on Opera, at least, it's animated. It's bouncing again and again. What other web browsers can view animated PNGs? (.png or .apng. Either can be animated)
I'm gonna go make an animated PNG now. Post back when I'm done.
EDIT: It even still supports transparency.
Lookie here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APNG
There, it's white. Here, it's black. IT'S AMAZING!

Wow. Works on Firefox too.

I knew that there exists apng, it works on all popular browsers (Firefox,Chrome,Opera,Safari), expect on IE
If all the EE smileys are PNG then they can also be animated without having to recode a lot of things, right?

lets hope so!
if it does, then you can get 1 step closer to making animated smileys on EE itself!
like an eating smiley or a talking smiley, you have the idea!
A always animated smiley would be annoying, but talking when send a chat message would be good!
what about an animation on/off button to fix that?
What about the chat bubble? When you are moving or don't have chat it could go
.
..
...
.
..
...
etc. Just small things like that would be nice.

It doesn't work on Chrome and Safari.

Chrome doesn't have that, too?
There's one bad thing: You can't set frame duration (at least in the GIMP plug-in)
Maybe there's other programs. On GIMP I control the length with the layer names. Open up a gif not made by you in GIMP and it has the length in the layer name so I'm going to open this is GIMP and see what makes it work.

it's cool but it wont be used very often if the major browsers keep not supporting it.
It works of FF

Seems like it works on Firefox and Opera (which I use)
Didn't work on Chrome but I tried Opera and it worked.

Wtf? It dont work on Chrom and Safari...
I was wrong
I thought I read that somewhere...
Works with FF, Apparently not with Chrome or IE.
The wikipedia page shows what browsers support and don't support APNGs...

How about Internet Explorer? I use Opera but I am curious about Internet Explorer.

This will show if your Browser supports it or not if you're just too darn lazy to look at the first image.
-APNGs seem to be alot cleaner than GIFs

They are. Plus, even the reflection seemed to be changed to be meant for black. I love them. They are amazing. Animation and transparency, UNITE!
