Minecraft Beta 1.8 is released!
Hey all you Minecraft fans, if you don't know already, 1.8 has been officially released! I'm so happy I nearly fainted. What are you waiting for? Stop reading this and check it out for yourselves!

The new lighting is beautiful! Best update I have witnessed so far.(actually the only update I've ever witnessed.:P)

When i first got in i was like: "Woowww.... This looks Epic.... GIMME MOAR MC U SUK!"
I got lucky by finding a Village. sadly they are all abandon...
But Thats good for me! I got a well a forge and 3 Big houses! ALL FOR FREE!
Thats a better deal then ShamWow has Ever made!

The NPC Villages are supposed to be populated when the 1.9 update comes out.

Still quite a few bugs, and it's a lot laggier on my cpu.
I'll manage.
Still pretty nice, though. I tip my hat to Notch and helpers.

what will the villages be populated WITH? i doubt players. mobs? creepers?

Actual people that look like people. They act like mobs, I presume, but look like regular people. Yet to come. I'm sure he's perfecting their human-like qualities, such as directing themselves to go somewhere instead of wondering around like pigs.
What are the updates?
I've underlined the more important ones.
+ Added a brand new biome generation code that simplifies life a lot and makes things much more exciting for the future
+ Added new mob; Endermen
+ Added FOV slider
+ Added brightness slider
+ Added randomly generated ravines
+ Killing a monster makes it drop experience orbs
+ The player can level up by gathering experience orbs
+ Added randomly generated houses
+ Added huge mushrooms
+ Using bonemeal on small mushrooms grows the mushroom into a giant mushroom if there?s room
+ Rewrote the light rendering to use multitexturing instead of direct colors
+ Sky light and block light have different tints, cool colors for sky light, warm for block lights
+ Added critical hits that deal 50% damage, plus an extra point to make crits with weak weapons worth it
+ If the player hits a mob while falling, they always hit a critical hit
+ The game now keeps track of damage sources and types
+ Some damage type ignore armor now; drowning, being on fire (but not being IN a fire), falling out of the world
+ Ice now only spreads next to existing ice or from coast areas
+ Made the explosions prettier
+ Made level height depend on a single variable (the level height still is 128, but it?s more moddable now)
+ Added sprinting
+ Added hunger
+ Food is now stackable
+ Improved the logo
+ Added suspended particles to water
+ Added a server list so you can remember multiple servers
+ The player regenerates slowly while the food bar is high
+ Eating food now takes time
+ Skeletons hold their bows better now
+ Added melons
+ Made melons and pumpkins farmable
+ Animals that get hurt will flee randomly for a short while
+ Pigs have snouts now
+ Made a flashier title screen
+ Looking towards the sun during sunset/sunrise changes fog color
+ Added fence gates
+ Added a player list to multiplayer

+ Added Cave Spider
+ Added huge underground dungeons (stronghold)
+ Added underground mine shafts
+ Added melon
+ Added sprouts for melons and pumpkins

+ Added iron bars
* Fixed mushrooms spreading infinitely
* Fixed caves generating with too many dead ends

The only problem I have with those tables is that you can't sit in them. What's the point of a table if you can't sit on it?

I prefer using stairs as chairs.
My first 1.8 experience:
I spawned in a swamp and I didn't wanna make my house there so I went on a long (2 day) journey to find some plains. I got saplings on my way so I can plant trees in the plains and I had to dig a hole in a mountain to seek shelter for the night. After that I went on my way and I found an NPC village right next to some plains! Right now it's night again and I'm sheltered in somebody's house. I made a creeper blow up in the village when it turned to night. At least no buildings got damaged.

Given that you can only stand & crouch anyhow, I don't think there's any decent option for a seat. I need to find some watermelon seeds.
