It's now sending me and several of my friends spam. Anyone who's ever emailed it. Yahoo needs to work on it's security.

Note: If you email me at that, not only won't I get it, but it'll start spamming you, too!

What Chewy said. The email was only used for directing spam away from my main. Whenever something I didn't trust asked for confirmation, I used that one. It ate a lotta spam and now it's all grown up.

The exact same thing happened to me a few years ago. My Yahoo! email randomly started sending spam out to all of my contacts. Like "pe3n00r growth" spam. And Viagra. And guess who's in my contacts? My parents. My grandma. MY BOSS. My old professors. I had no choice but to close that email and open a new one... and explain to everyone in my contact list that I do not, in fact, need any growth hormones.

But anyways, I wouldn't have even known anything was happening if I didn't have my old boss's now-defunct email still on there, so I got a message one day out of the blue saying my email didn't go through. I was like ".... what email?" And that's the story of how Yahoo! mail almost ruined my life.

Your email was Compromised. There's a possibility that you happened to get a Worm on your computer. These types of Worm are made solely for the purpose of obtaining active emails. Changing your Password will not work. The spammers are using a method of making it seem like the spam is being sent from you which is why you probably haven't noticed anything in your Sent Box. The most I can tell you is to remove your contacts list if you don't use that email anymore or inform the people on your Email what's going on.

*Also, if you want to know if any of your other Emails might be doing the same thing, Just add yourself to your Contacts list and you should be getting the same spam everyone else is getting from yourself.

*Also Also, Any Links your emails might be sending may also contain the Worm. So you may want to warn any one who's clicked on them of this aswell.

I know this completely. I only logged in a few days ago, and that's when the spam started. I don't really care about yahoo, but it might start stealing other accounts.

None of the others are having problems. I have it under control. At least, I do right now.

I warned the... 4 people and the 1 bot not to click on the links when I first got the email.

That's why I never listen to what my grandpa emails me. He gets really annoying at times and I know that someday he's going to click on a link that gives him a Worm like Scythe said.

Gmail? Pfft. I just use thunderbird. Me and my family all have our main emails set up on that, and each of our emails goes to a folder with our name on it. But, like Firefox, Thunderbird isn't perfect. For example, all the spam that gets sent to my email, instead of being put into my box for my deleting pleasure, doesn't move at all and stays in my mom's box. Glitches are far better than any intentional filter.
