Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Help with Minecraft 1.0.0 mods

To install mods in MC 1.0.0, do I need to put them in the "1.0.0" folder inside the "mods" folder? I see that my old mods are all there, they just aren't activating. I assume that's what's to be done. I'll check my .minecraft to see if the update replaced it (it probably did)

I'll see if I can fix my own problem, brblol.

Re: Help with Minecraft 1.0.0 mods

(Assuming you have Win7)

Typical mod setup:
Start menu > Search "%appdata%" and hit enter > .minecraft > bin (to be opened with WinRAR or 7zip) > DELETE META-INF > Minimize this window for a hot second.

Bring the desired mod to your desktop > If it is zipped, don't unzip it. If it is unzipped, look inside the folder to see if there are any "Read-me's" or other information. You don't want any of that, just put the actual mod onto your desktop. > Open it with WinRAR or 7zip > There should be several .CLASS files, which is good. > Open the bin.

Either copy/paste or drag the files of your mod into the bin. Close all your windows, and open Minecraft. Your mod(s) should be working.

Notes/Tips:
> If you totally screwed up your bin, remove it and the next time you open Minecraft it'll make a brand new one.

> Some mods are nice and just have a zipped folder you put in the "mods" folder of your ".minecraft".

> If the mod requires META-INF, screw it. 90% of mods require that you delete it, because META-INF is the appendix of MC.

> Most mods require ModLoader. And even if it doesn't, it's still a good idea to download it anyway to prevent conflicts. Treat ModLoader like any other mod, just put its files into the bin and you should be all set.

> If the mod has several components, like Buildcraft (5 components >_>), make sure that they're all the exact same version; and as a general rule of thumb, make sure the mod is built for the current version.

> There are few of those mods that want to be "special" and have a whole different process to set up. In that case, Youtube.

@tako:
I know how to install those types of mods, I'm talking about those that actually go into the 'mods' folder, like CTM (if it ever gets updated).

CTM? Connected texture mod or whatever? You just put the files into your bin, no mod folder involved.

You also need ModLoader, do you have that in and working?

CTM goes straight to the mods folder, actually. There's a zip that you drop into 'mods'

Not updated to 1.0.0 last time I checked (as if it needs to be). None of the mods I use that require it are updated either, so I don't really need it ATM.

[billymays]MCPatcher is way easier than that. You can even remove your mods without any trouble.[/billymays]
