Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Yep, it's that time of the year-before-election-year, when the indecision on the United State's presidential election begins. Who will get the Republican party's nomination? Can they beat the incumbent Obama? Who do you want/think will win?

I haven't really been looking into politics but I should. I get to vote for my first time this year. I think I'm gonna register as a democrat, though I'm more of an independent (I want to vote in the primary)
So far none of the republican candidates seem very smart. They either don't know what they are talking about of they are biased pricks. I think they worry too much about their own opinions and not about the legality of certain situations.
Personally I like Barack Obama, he seems to have some good policies though I'm a little upset he doesn't support gay marriage :'(
I think I ought'a look at some more of the democratic politicians though, hoepfully they can score a victory this year with someone smart
theres a problem with every one of the top republican nominees. newt gingrech got a bad rep for cheating on 2 wives, hermain cain has all the sex scandals, and rick perry lost any chance he had when he forgot his plan at the debate. personally, we need a republican to win this election because since congress is mainly republican, nothing will change if obama is re-elected. after the first half of his term we can elect the republicans out of congress and then vote a democrat for president. at this point, the republican candidate will be romney or gingrech with a chance for cain. if any of the candidates should win, then i guess i would say herman cain.

Here's hoping Obama gets two terms, he really is the best man for the job so far.
I like Ron Paul, despite his party, he has good policies as well as not-so-good ones, but he's the best Republican.
He has openly disagreed with former President Reagan (aka RepubliGod); voted against starting the Iraq War; endorses free trade; opposes the USA PATRIOT act, torture, and the draft; and endorses revising DADT (don't ask, don't tell) to concern mainly disruptive sexual behavior, whether hetero- or homosexual. But of course he's anti-same-sex-marriage, anti-abortion, and rumored to harbor racist feelings.

Why does everyone feel like they have to pick someone?
I DON'T WANT ANY OF THESE PEOPLE RUNNING MY COUNTRY!

...Not even Obama?
I am a middle class citizen, so no. I don't like democrat in general.
So are most people, me included. Democrats really are the best party if you're not old, rich, and white. I believe it was Chris Rock that said something along the lines of "I became a Democrat because I wanted to make money, and then I became a Republican because I wanted to keep my money."

Well, my family makes money, but we don't want to lose it as we make it...

I don't follow politics. :/ Anarchy '12.
Well, you won't if you spend smartly and save when possible.
I'm talking about taxes. T_T

Everyone pays taxes. (except illegals)
And the rich SHOULD pay the same amount, and hopefully will at some point.
What do you mean?
Do you mean the rich do not pay the enough? They pay so much more...

i personally think that since we have so much debt, that rich people should pay more. if someone makes more than 250K per year, they can settle for a little less. if they make over a million a year, its all the same from there. 5 million is about the same as 6.

I don't like any of them. The only people that understand what it's like to be an American citizen is a down-to-earth American citizen. And none of those people are running.

Oh noeses! The economy is driven by spending, if everyone saves we will cause a big recession.

Isn't that true?

We talked about this is economics class. Taxing the rich more is NOT going to help. Why?
Having an economy where we spread the wealth is called Socialism. If we tax the rich more than the poor people will have more benefits and eventually making them the rich.
This fails for two reasons.
1. If people knew that they would get taxed more the more money they made, there would be no incentive for being rich. Because if you pay more taxes your basically not making a whole lot of money because the more you make, the more taxes you would pay, and your revenue would either decrease or stay the same.
2. If everyone did have more money it would cause inflation. Right now a bottle of milk costs approximately $1.50-$2.00 , but that is because of the economy we are living in. But if everyone had lots of money then the price of milk might rise to $3.50-$4.00 per bottle because that would be considered affordable.
We need to have a gap between the rich and the poor, because like it or not we still need people for the lower level jobs (like trashmen, and people who work in sewage treatment plants) and we don't want to cause inflation. Besides people who make lots of money (legally) have earned it fair and square and should not have to give their hard earned cash to the government.
And please note my family is not rich, I am middle class. I only speak from a logical point of view.

I think the government should tax people slightly more the richer they get, but at a very small rate. Let's see, I should be able to think of a function for this...
