Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I was supposed to have 3 hockey games last weekend weekend, the first ones back from Christmas holidays.
We were doing pretty good in the first game we tied 5-5. I also got an assist for goal #1.
In the second game, we were playing against the number one team in the league. They caught us off guard and scored 5 minutes into the first period. it was 1-0 for them. We later tied up the game in the second period. In the third period, however, my team mate took a shot at the net, and the puck trickled past the goalie... and stopped on the goal line. The defence man was right there and he did not see see it. I was at the hash marks. I took 2 strides and dove for the puck, attempting to get it to go just a few inches...and into the net.
This is the ugly part.
The puck did not cross the line. As I dove, the defence man got the puck away as I tried to poke it in..and I tripped him. Somewhere in this mess, he steps on my neck, and I am on the ground with my head at the back of the net face down. As I go to sit up, I see a small puddle of blood where my head was, and it trails towards me. Immediately, I knew my neck was cut and I get up quickly and get out of there holding my neck.
The weird part is, it feels like something minor, you know like the sting you get from a papercut. That's how much it hurt. Not much at all. My team mate sees the blood and yells at the ref to blow the whistle and he does. My team mate comes over to me and sees my neck, and I remember him yelling, " Oh my God get to the bench NOW!". He had a real sense of urgency in his voice so I go as fast as I can to the bench holding my neck. I get there and throw my gloves to the floor and apply pressure to my neck.
My coaches rush me to the dressing room and we take someone's skate towel and they put it on my neck and apply pressure. They are squeezing so hard that I have to keep my breathing very controlled and small. I get a chance to look at my hand and it is covered in blood. It was pretty scary. An ambulance comes and takes me to the hospital.
At the hospital, I learn that I was EXTREMELY lucky. The cut was just millimetres from cutting my carotid artery. If any of you have heard of Clint Malarchuk, the goalie in the NHL who got his neck cut, that's what would have happened.
The cut severed my juggular and the main muscle on the right side of my neck. In surgery that night, I had both repaired and stitched up. My neck is really stiff and I will probably miss this whole week of school.
I am on track for recovery and nothing serious has come up since surgery. The cut is 10cm long.
I will be back to normal in 6 weeks. I know right, I am the luckiest 15 year old in the world!
Edits: I feel like making new posts for other information makes me look like I'm just trying to attract attention, so any extra news is below here.

Your are so lucky, it's stories like this that keeps me away from sports and children's ignorance. Are you going to continue playing hockey after that?
There is no way I am quitting hockey just because I cut my neck It was just a freak accident, it was unlucky that it happened and it will probably never happen again.
-Then again, it has drawn a whole lot of attention to me, seems like everybody knows about it.

-I heard from my team mates at my game January 14th(time of this edit) that they had to bring the zamboni on the ice halfway through the third period to clean up my blood...
-I met with Clint Malarchuk January 14th(time of this edit) at the pre-game practice, he is a very funny guy

Wow, that is pretty lucky! I love watching hockey, but I always worry that something like that will happen. Hope you recover soon and good luck with it! BTW: This is kind of off-topic, but do you know if your team won the game?
We ended up tying 2-2 is what I heard. We were on a powerplay for the last 2 minutes of the game and hit the post at least 4 times.
EEk. Lucky to survive, unlucky to have that happen.
0_0 Yeah, you are the luckiest 15 yr old.

Any pictures?
Lucky you!
My ways crossed with Clint Malarchuks in August 2011. Me and my friend was having a beer at a place in Stockholm, and a cowboy-dressed man walks up to us and asks us if this is a good place to grab a beer. Later, Clint came and sat at our table and we had a little chitchat. Clint was in Sweden to scout, or train youngsters (I don't remember), and that's how he dropped the bomb that he was Clint Malarchuk. It was kinda cool.

The reason it hurt about the same as a paper cut is because your fingers are filled with nerve endings, whereas your neck doesn't have all those nerve endings. Actually, that only explains why paper cuts hurt a lot.
But wow, I cringed at that. I'm glad you're still with us, because then you couldn't tell us you died, which would suck. You probably traumatized a few people.
...although, this does give me a good idea. An idea that doesn't involve any real people. Just fictional ones.
But anyway, perhaps since you're so lucky, you should go gamble some money. You know, you might get lucky and win the jackpot.

Oh God! I feel so bad, but then you say it doesn't hurt. So...
That was a close one.
I play hockey, I'm just absolutely terrible. But the rest of my team is pretty awesome. (Varsity is 2nd best in the nation. Haven't played the 1st, but I wish we would so we can claim it...)
Wow, shows how delicate life is.
Glad to hear you're alright. It would have sucked finding out you're dead. You got lucky. Get well soon, best of wishes!

^lol, I'll get some pictures up once I start going back to school.
At least you'll get one cool looking scar out of the ordeal.
Get well soon, unless this is a massive troll, which reminds me, POIDH.
Exactly what I was thinking.
Either way, it could have been deadly, but you survived. Congrats for that.

That's what you get for putting your neck under a blade under some dude's foot. Maybe you'll think twice about it next time!

I don't even have any graphic pictures of it. I never got to see for myself the pre-stitched cut. Oh well lol.
