Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Oh wow, I don't know any of those, except for Arceus.
When I was... 6, I think, I got Pokemon Crystal as a birthday present from a friend that was a few years older than me. Back then I had no idea what "Overwrite save file?" meant so I just chose no. As you can imagine, I was horrified to see that my hours of play had not been saved; I had learned what "overwrite" meant the hard way.
I spent most of my free time on my sky blue Gameboy Advance battling with my Totodile/Croconaw/Feraligatr that I had probably given some silly name only a 6 year-old could think of. Chompy, maybe? By the end of this run with Crystal, my Feraligatr was lvl 100, as was a Dodrio I had caught along the way. That same friend of mine who had given me the game had also traded me a high-level (~60) Magneton I trained to about lvl 90. I swear I beat the Elite Four at least 200 times.
Then, the unimaginable happened, probably the most tragic event to a nerdy little kid like me: my 1000+ hour save file was erased. A friend who had been visiting had used my cartridge to start a new game.
So I started from scratch again. I would never bother playing through a game twice now. But back then it was one of the only games I owned, so it wasn't a chore to me at all. I think I got my Typhlosion up to lvl 100 before I wanted to start over again. I had killed all the legendaries, and I wanted to try again.
I used an old cloning glitch to clone Master Balls (call me a cheater; merely finding the legendaries in that game was a challenge) and eventually caught all of them, even the elusive Ho-oh (in Crystal and Silver, Ho-oh is much harder to reach than in Gold).
I even remember using the cloning glitch to clone Eevee. One of the clones was hilariously glitched up and caused the game to crash eventually. The Eevee turned into a lvl 200 Magikarp, then into a lvl 4 Steelix that only knew Vine Whip. When sent into battle, the Eevee's name took at least 20 A button presses to scroll through its name. It knew only the move Sweet Scent, and the same move took up all 4 attack slots. Upon choosing the move, the Eevee lost and regained its health infinitely until you turned off the game. It was amazing.
I also played through Diamond pretty throroughly, although I can't say I have as many memories as in Crystal. I also got Gold from a friend, but I can't say I liked it as much as Crystal.
As for collecting Pokemon, I can't say I'm much of a completionist. If I saw some weak-looking flower-pokemon, I wouldn't bother to catch it. I only ever caught the ones I wanted.
tl;dr: I don't blame you.
