Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Some of you may remember my old rate my soon-to-be rig (which I still use to keep track of what parts I have) topic. If you recall, my current processor is an Athlon II x2 250 (3.0 GHz). The new one is OEM (mainly, doesn't come with a heatsink/fan) and clocked at 3.5 GHz, plus is quad core (for, you know, when I multitask). I also bought a Hyper 212 plus, because it's the most recommended CPU cooler among /g/ and is compatible with pretty much every modern and modern-ish socket out there, AMD and Intel. Plus, you know, I may want to overclock once I stop being afraid that I'll break it.
Anyways, do you guys think this was a good purchase? It was $150 altogether, plus I get $10 MIR for the 212+ once I get it (but that's always a painful process, plus it's usually only on [company name] products).
Anyway, this is part of my plan to transform this meh-tier rig into a medium-tier gaming rig. I also plan on buying a Radeon HD 7850 and another monitor (for eyefinity), as well as another 4GB stick of RAM to match mine and a new mobo, with more PCIe slots (because mine only has one and I know for a fact I've looked at multiple PCIe extension cards that I want but can't have because of my limited amount of slots).
Anyways, what should I do with my old processor? Box it up and sell it used on Ebay? Keep it and pretty much re-build my current rig when my "improvements" have pretty much replaced the whole thing? Nobody else in my house uses AMD processors, so "GEEB IT 'WAY" isn't an option.

Nice processor. Intense. I've actually never heard of "Athlon," but for 3.5 GHz it should be pretty awesome. I don't see why it was only 150 (with the cooler,) it's usually much more for that much. :/
Go for the extra RAM.
You could probably just sell your old processor. Then again, I'm not sure how much a 3 GHz Athlon will cost if a 3.5 is under 150.
The processor was $129.99 with a $10 discount from a promo code: $120, in essence. The hyper 212+ was $30, thus $150 ($149.98, no tax or shipping for them). I can sell the other processor for $30-40, and there's a $10 MIR for the 212+, so that there's another stick of RAM (although I'm gonna get the vidya card first).
The athlon was $64 new, but the entire line is discontinued, I think. Phenoms are supposed to be, too, but I think they're still making them...
Apparently, I'll be able to OC to 4GHz with the 212+, so that's fun. How about some (in effect) 2-core 4GHz minecraft? Goodbye to those damn processor-related crashes (from what I've monitored).
I'm a bit sad, though, because that was all of my money until I work on Saturday, which may just be the day I get it.
