ok, what I meant was I couldn't find the resources to fully develop my learning of Elvish.

Why can't we all just speak one language, it would be really nice...

in 20 years, there may only be 3 Languages, English, Chinese & Spanish [in order of size Largest to smallest]. In 40 years only either English or Chinese will exist.

1. I don't think something like this would happen this fast...
2. Natives will keep speaking their language no matter what. Are you implying that in 40 years everyone will be dead except english / chinese people? Those people will still know other languages. Are you implying that they will die too? It's impossible to narrow down to 1 language without mass murder (as far as I know).

That's not what he was saying. English is spoken throughout the world, and is second largest mother tongue in the world. The first being Mandarin Chinese.

However, a lot of people have learned English through school or necessity, like Watashii who is Swedish, Or Sanguine/Viscarah who is German or pretty much any Japanese student nowadays. The other tongues will die out due to there being no need to speak it, or from disuse. For example, there are people whose mother tongue is French, but because internationally, not very many people speak french, they can't speak very much French anymore due to whatever reason.

Think of Cherokee Native Americans. They have a language, but less than 30k are native speakers. Most people will opt to speak English in day to day life, making it unnecessary for their children to even learn the language, and it would be a hassle for that child to speak such an archaic language. So therefore, that child won't know the language, and then as they have children who have children who have children, absolutely none of them will know very much Cherokee. So yes, the language will eventually die out with the people, but not due to mass murder. It's a bit like natural selection, if you don't think very hard about natural selection and sort of tilt your head sideways and squint.
