Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

The Hunger Games

Popular Book/Movie

My opinion: I hate the ever-loving crap out of this. (That doesn't work, does it?) Listen, I know it's fiction, but this is the most illogical, stupid fiction I've ever heard. All of the sudden the US is this completely uncivilized, completely regressed place where there are 13 cities that you can't even leave! (British people are going to say something like, "I don't know, I can see that happening to the US, hurr durr.") Really, I can stand for other fiction, (I basically hate it all, mostly) but this I cannot! The capitol of an apparent now third-world country uses children for a game, with the stupidest concepts.

I hate how all my friends love it.

I hate the movie and the book but the idea is pretty nice, just picture a yearly free for all where a few people are randomly selected to duke it out for some prize, I mean I'd like to watch that every year.

Well, that's your opinion, putnamehere.

I honestly want to see the movie and read the books. It looks pretty interesting to me.

Re: The Hunger Games

I find it strange how some people are like "ZOMG BEST MOVIE EVER" and other people are like "ZOMG WORST MOVIES EVER" but no one is like in the middle. I haven't seen it yet, but It looks like the kind of movie/book I would enjoy.

I don't think that this will ever happen, and it seems illogical. But to be fair, Harry Potter is about wizards, and is one of the most beloved series of all time, yet completely illogical. It's more about creativity.

Did you read the first book? Do you remember it?

This did not happen all of the sudden. It happened / will happen hundreds of years in the future. It mentions in the book that hundreds of years ago there used to be democracy.

It is not uncivilized. Well, I guess depending on your opinion. Technically there is laws and a dictator.

The districts are run down. I suppose it would be hard to take care of them. The fences in district 12 are run down because there is not enough people that care to repare them. Other run down items cannot be fixed because no one bothers to make paint, new appliances, ect. for the unweathy districts.

The goal of the districts (not cities) is to deprive them of freedom, therefore litterally fencing them in.

I cannot convince you that the game concepts are not stupid.

But I will explain them for anyone who doesn't know them.

There was a war years ago, where the districts wanted to end the dictatorship of the capitol. The capitol won the war. Barely. They were afraid that another war would happen again, so they created the Hunger Games.

By creating the Hunger Games, the capitol hoped to remind all the districts that they are still in power, and are not above killing their children.

They want to control, dictate, and own the souls of the districts. The capitol drinks up the profits they make from the districts, and leaves the districts poor.

EDIT: It is unfortunate how you hate that your friends love it. You should respect their opinions. If they are trying to make you like it, they also should respect your opinion. I hope you respect my opinion as well.

Er, it's not supposed to be real... Were you that one kid in your preschool who wanted to kill Spongebob for being nonexistent? I didn't think so. Just enjoy the book and get on with your life.

Re: The Hunger Games

Collins ripped off of my idea! Back in the day, I published a book called "The Dunger Games", in which cows were put in an arena and forced to hurl their fecal matter at each other. It was very emotional and had a deep underlying message. But then it was BANNED, for being to lewd! Then Collins totally takes my idea and makes it dumb and stupid. I've now had a book and a tv series banned. WHEN WILL IT STOP!?!?

I'm surprized no one has mentioned twilight. Twilight was an epic book and if you don't agree then you have never read it, anyway the movie of twilight completely ruined it by aload of annoying fangirl's. Now the most of the people I've seem that like the hunger game's are girl's. So idk?

I read each Hunger Games book as it came out, and they were great.   They're my third favorite series of all time, after Potter and Pendragon.   I'll see the movie as soon as I can find an HD torrent.

All of a sudden the Us is uncivilised? When has the Us ever been civilised. Jk.
But the Hunger Games take place in a distant future in an POST-APOCALYPTIC world. So it didn't happen all of a sudden it happens after the "Apocalyps"

So no, it is not illogical. The others has also pointed out other things that shows that it is now where close to illogical. You should get your facts straight.

@Monstar: Yeah, I know it's my opinion. Maybe that's why I said "My opinion:" and then put my opinion down. >.<

@Shift: No, I was not like that. I just hate fiction books.

@coolmanman: That's what I thought]

@krubby: lol

@Everyone has says "All of the sudden" in their post: Same thing, who cares.

not sure if trolling or just insane
I haven't read The Hunger games, but I really want to. Seems pretty pro.
edittt: OP, I take it you disliked 1984 because a completely fascist state is nonsense and because the United States and the United Kingdom aren't one country? How ridiculous. Especially considering it's satire and the fact that Italy and Germany during WWII.

First of all, I've never read 1984.

Second, I should clarify: I hate fantasy, not necessarily fiction in general (But yes, sometimes fiction in general). My mistake for not saying that (Although I did kinda say it, a bit). I usually don't group stuff like 1984 into fiction, and think of it more as Classic. Just how I roll, bro.

Re: The Hunger Games

Normally I wouldn't do this, but, full caps:

DON'T SEE THE MOVIE!

Anyone who thinks it's good is either a fanboy or has no critical thinking abilities. Objectively, it's a bad movie:

- Many, MANY plotholes
- Bad acting
- Terrible camera work
- Overly emotional (especially for a movie where people are supposed to fight for their damn lives)
- Extremely low pace
- Useless love triangle
- Predictable as hell
- Violence is dumbed down greatly to make it pg13
- Etc

I thought this movie was going to be awesome judging by the concept and the trailer, but it's pure feces. Seriously. It's almost as bad as Twilight.

I agree with some of these, but don't go trashing people's opinions.

The book does a much better job of explaining the concepts. [Assuming you didn't read the books. (That is perfectly fine btw.)]

The camera work was intentionally made shaky to avoid showing too much gore.

You seem to be contradicting yourself when you say "Overly emotional" and "fight for their damn lives".

Once again assuming you haven't read the books, the books explain better about why this "Useless love triangle" happened. It would be a spoiler to say more.

I apologise if you wanted an R rated movie. The material should have been R, but mr adult, if you haven't noticed, this IS a young adult's book.(aka a book made specially for those under 21.) Of course it is not JUST for under 21 year olds, but a majority of the book fans are of that age group, therefore the movie producers wanted to make it so the majority would see it.
