Why do some teens think they're so tough?

It really ticks me off. They spit, wear their trousers low, walk like they crapped their self, and just think they're generally a strong person.Chavs. ( as you probably gathered I live in place where we have alot of people like this)

The other stupid thing is, they couldn't even handle a fight with anyone, but yet the ask for it. I would say I could handle a fight, but I don't go around looking like a complete ----.  
Anyway, do you get people like this where you live?
And why do they act like this, and try bullying people?

..let them grow up. They are "inspired" by some media idols, their favorite band or musician, actor whatever.

I see enoug people like you descriped and have no problem with them.
Are they bullying people? Never seen here.

Everyone hates chavs, nothing new there. Just ignore those nubs.

People often bully out of lack of confidence, so they bully someone to make themselves feel superior/tough, while really, they are sad as hell. Why else would you want to randomly hurt people? Chavs are just a group of these idiots, who, in addition, also happen to dress terribly

I get alot of those people where I live at and like Helvi said, it's most likely media influence mostly by music. Rappers and Hip-hop artist are corrupting teenagers with their crappy music...

You sound so damn American right now. It doesn't work that way. The music doesn't 'corrupt' the teens, the stupid teens who are screwed in the head affiliate with the music and, because they don't know boundaries, they exhibit extreme behaviour. It's just like games supposedly makes people aggressive, while many many studies show it actually helps RELIEVE stress. But despite this, many stupid American people (usually moms and idiotic Christian fundamentalists) keep denying the truth.

It's kinda hard, since I want to give them a fight, just because they think they're hard, as where I know I'm pretty strong. But I'm not gonna beat up people for fun, so I just walk away, but that is hard, haha

In my year at school, the ratio of think they're hard or not is 8:2/4:1. They think smoking makes them great and cannot be touched. Just a load of idiots.

I think people should take note that 'chavs' are not all idiots, some just grow up dressing like they do for no particular reason. Not all will give hassle, yes they may dress stupid but not all will try to hit you.

heh, i didn't need to act tough when i was a teen because i actually was. anyone who wanted to try to pick on the 6'3'' kid generally had an aching stomach the rest of the day from where it got jabbed hard.

Well I have a nublet of a friend who's 2 years younger than me who's weaker than my cat that always brags about how tough he is just   because his dad has muscles. Kid needs to stop watching WWE. Just as annoying.

In my school there is lots of them who act tough but are weak like this one guy who acts strong and sits in chairs like he is a bad **** but he cries very quick as iv'e heard from my friends.
I think in my school there is more of this people than any of you 1 reason is because I live in Oakland and Oakland has been announced the third dangerous state in the U.S. My evidence is that Oakland has been given the nickname "baby iraq". Go to google and put baby iraq and another word is going to pop...

Haha, which is kinda of silly, as size doesn't matter. Just because you are tall doesn't make you tough, however tall people are kinda intimidating.

Lol he's not even 10 and he acts like that? The ones that hang around here are about 14-17
