Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Camp NaNoWriMo

I've made a topic about this before last year, but Rurigok told me to make a new one instead of gravedigging so whatever.

Okay, so Camp NaNoWriMo is basically National Novel Writing Month, but more campy and in June and/or August instead of November.

You have one month to write a novel from scratch, with a goal of 50,000 words. That's about 1,667 words a day for the entire month.

It's pretty difficult, I can say, considering I first participated in Camp NaNoWriMo in July and got half-way to the goal but finished my 'novel' (I try to forget about it). I literally gave up mid-sentence. I think I'm having a mental seizure by reading the last bits of it.

In normal NaNoWriMo (which is in November), I valiantly defeated my inner editor and wrote a novel, and totally stopped almost as soon as I hit my goal. It's still pretty bad.

But this time, it's serious business. I've got a vague plot and I'm going to win this time, and I'm going to win good. I can't tell you what it is yet, though, because I could still change my mind in the next three days.

So, is anyone going to challenge their mental well-being and write a novel over the summer? I'd enjoy some cabinmates that I actually know.

Anyway, here's some links for you:

http://www.nanowrimo.org/ (To learn about it, I suppose)
http://campnanowrimo.org/ (The actual Camp NaNoWriMo link)

CHALLENGE YOURSELVES! WRITE A NOVEL!

(Also, I apologise if this should be in Creative as opposed to off-topic.)

Re: Camp NaNoWriMo

If you were sharing your novel, then yeah it would go in Creative. Just telling us about the event goes in Off-topic.

I may or may not participate. 1667 words/day sounds like quite the chore, but I like writing. I should do it more often.

Yeah, well, you know that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

I've been participating in this since the year 2005, I have written a novel each year, though I have done it more as a fun thing than to write competitively. It's a really fun thing that makes you mentally ill for a short period the first few times. Even so, when you let your creativity flow out over the paper putting your imagination into words, that's one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

Try it.

My novel would end before I hit 5000 words. Seems fun, don't think I could do it though...

Re: Camp NaNoWriMo

It's quite honestly difficult. It pretty much requires a lot of willpower and pure crap at points, and then you get in the middle of the month and you go temporarily insane and you wonder why the hell you're still doing it and then when you finish it, you sit back, and then you say, 'DAYUUUMMMM.'

Or unless you're me, you finish it and very calmly refrain from screaming and go to play a game on newgrounds only to be **** at for not working on your 'essay for school' (WHICH IT MOST DEFINITELY WASN'T)....
and then you say, "I finished it," very icily
and get no satisfaction
of writing
a ****
goddamn
novel.

But it's still an incredible experience.
