this thread is for anybody that wants to talk about american politics. if you live somewhere else make another thread for it. currently i am hating how the republicans are taking over the govenment. i think democrats are better leaders. also i dont like obamas decision on extending the bush tax cuts. a country 17 trillion in debt needs tax hikes.

I may live in Sweden but I do follow american politics rather closely. (Since half my family lives over there)

In terms on what I stand, I'm neutral simply because their whole system seems to rely upon a giant tug-of-war with no winner whatsoever on any end of the political spectrum. It's no wonder you guys always seem so fed up with your government, whether it be republican or democrat, they just can't seem to get anything right.

I've got three things to say about USA and your politics.

1. Stop interfering with other countries problems.

2. Your health-care system sucks big time, you should change it. In fact, your whole system with low tax rates and high prices (on everything) sucks. Your system can't give social welfare unless you have insurances but they cost way too much.

The american political system is anti progressive.

Basically, democrats want a change for the better, but republicans want to limit that change.
So we end up with lots of crap compromise rather than actual progress.

But seriously, i agree. america doesn't have a very good health system. if taxes were a little higher, it would be a great deal better.   Also, the republicans need to stop spending money on trying to stop the democrats from trying to make the country a better place.

Broseph, who would you have rather than Obama? McCain? He would have done nothing new.

At least Obama is trying to be progressive.

I want to see how all his plans he mentioned in the state of the union go, because it all sounded pretty good, albeit he didn't mention how any of it will get done, but the ideas seemed to be in the right place.

Focusing on the negative in life isn't a good thing.

The surplus was a failure, but he has tried with healthcare(although that failed too[but that isn't his fault, that our system prevents anything that republicans don't like]).
I'm not saying Obama has somehow fixed america or even will. As much as that he's doing more than McCain would have.

They failed becasue the republicans blocked most of it

Politics and Religion are two sensitive subjects I hate talking about because there's so much conflict about it.

If I were at school I would add how they shouldn't be discussed at the lunch table.

Plus I don't follow politics at all.

well, I am sorry for this gravedig but I like politics a lot. I think Obama is a failure, he doesn't know what he is doing. He has insulted Christianity, promoted gay marriage too. Not only just because of religion, but america is in debt. So he goes and spends more on things that are useless. He has made a failure of a health care. the only reason people like him is because he is the first African american president. He put GM motors back to the top. Spending MILLIONS of dollars doing something that doesn't matter.

You know the biggest fail in the history of forever? Hint: It happened in my home state. Recall Scott Walker. It was literally the worst descision Democrats ever made. Trust me, it was living heck for people like me in Wisconsin. Just look it up. Or don't I don't care. It was chaos, though.
