Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Your thoughts on the Nexus 7

I know this isn't exactly the best place to ask this, but /g/ is down and this is the second best place I've got. I was wondering about what some current Android tablet users thought of the Nexus 7.

I just looked at it from the Google Play store, and I like what I see. I get that there's probably more powerful ones to get, but this one is cheap and relatively small, which I really like. It seems good enough for me, similar to something like the Kindle Fire. With access to Google Play (which I understand replaces whatever centralized app store thing Android has, no?), it seems pretty cool.

The main reasons I like it:
- Cheap
- Great size
- Specs are pretty good. 216ppi, IPS, Quadcore (I understand moar coars doesn't equal moar faster, so I was disappointed they didn't list a clock speed).
EDIT: this comparison says it's quadcore 1.3GHz. Just 300MHz short of a bad Atom-based laptop. Better than the iPad, at any rate.

The main reasons I'm concerned:
- I'm not as well-versed in this sort of thing as I am in desktop/laptop computer components
- The only tablet my family owns is an iPad and there's hardly any room for (buying) error there, seeing as there's only one model (well, three, but one model for each generation)
- I don't own a smartphone (I loathe that term) or any tablet of the sort

Excuse my ignorance, but (as I said) I'm not very well-versed.

Anyways, for $250 (for the 16GB edition), does this seem like a good deal to you?

In every aspect (that matters to me) but PPI and app mass (I hate the iPad's massiveness). My main concerns now are lack of an expansion slot (which really isn't an entirely big deal since I won't really be storing movies on it, but it seems so fundamental) and the inability to change the homescreen's orientation (I just think it looks better on landscape). Anyways, I'm not trying to decide between this and an iPad (that's out of the question), but this and other 7"-9" Android offerings (too large screens are a no-go, I don't like the idea of something "portable" being so large).

I'm not big on tablets, so I don't know much other than what I said in my first post. I just don't have any interest in them, why I have a smartphone.

I just think it'd be interesting to have something that I can brink to McDonalds or someplace and get on their wifi without having to pull out a laptop and do it like that. Plus it comes with games (as much as the android market offers in that area) that will keep me occupied. I liked the experience with my dad's iPad but I figured this would be a good investment, especially for such a low price. I mean, I make that much money in two weeks.

I use an iPhone, but my experience with the Android platform hasn't been too great. I had the Motorola Droid for 2 years, ughh. Slowed down over time to the point of not being able to make calls. Although, apparently all MotoDroids have this problem but I'm pretty happy with my iPhone. It just works.

Not that many actually. Think current PS3.

Too small

I can't freaking afford it.

Every single game I've played on iOS and liked so far I've found on Google Play, so yeah.

Doesn't it? Much better than some of the others, I think.

I could use it being a bit bigger, perhaps 7.5" or 8", but I prefer it to a 9" or 10.1".
