Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: Anime!

Just the big ones like Naruto and Bleach. But I've started watching a few more that show at 2am, so I'll just watch it again to know the name it.

Re: Anime!

lots of good stuff in here for sure. Do you guys prefer subbed or dubbed?
I think it depends, it's easier to connect to a good dub, but some dubs make the anime unwatchable, so I usually prefer subs

anime literally means animated in japan, although there is a common style that really isn't enough to say you can't like any of it unless you really hate the style, since anime can be as childish as everyday school comedy stuff, to really intense, dark stories. If you name some shows you like I/other people in this thread could try to recommend an anime so you can see if it's possible to change your mind, if not that's cool too but whatever.

edit: as wata said I use this for my sigs

So how exactly does the anime seasons and stuff work? There were 26 episodes of nichijou, are there ever going to be any more?

Re: Anime!

I prefer subbed, dubbed just doesn't work- I have to hear it in the voice that matches the character.

they're usually 13-17 but it varies, they often have short ends of the last season
nichijou was canceled because it didn't do too well(mostly cause it was competing with madoka for a time slot it lost a LOT of exposure) If you wanna see more of it you cn read the manga, but it's jsu not the same
madoka was oly one season and had 12 episode
and mawaru penguindrome has 28 I think, where the first season was 17 and second was 11

sometimes they do, though, FLCL dubbed is great

I've tried both and I think I prefer the subs, black stars english voice is too irritating

A season is 13 episodes (or less, depending on holidays). This is because anime usually airs weekly, and since there is 52 week of the year and 4 seasons we get (52 / 4) 13 episodes per season. The reason why There are odd cases though, and if a show gets popular enough it can get a second season produced. Seasons starts at the beginning of January, April, July, and October.

Due to national holidays (New Years, Golden week), it's not uncommon for shows to skip a week or two in the run to be only 12/24/25/50/51 episodes long, despite airing for 13/26/52 weeks.

A thing to note is that this 13-episode format have become much more popular recently, due to the sad economic state that the anime industry is currently in. The companies can't really afford to pay for a air slot that is more than a season long, and they can't afford to produce a long show.

In cases like Baccano! and Hellsing, it does make more sense for the characters to have English voices. I haven't watched the second example (yet, even tough I should) but the first one definitely have a better dub than the original language. Both of the versions of it are really good, though.

Cowboy Bebop have a good dub as well, and so does Cromartie High School. I'm too inexperienced with dubs to give you any more examples where the dub is at least equal to the sub.
