Lavender Town Syndrome True Or False?!

If you don't know about the original version of pokemon fire red and leaf green then this means nothing to you if you DO know about it then keep reading! If you know about Lavender Town (The place where pokemon are laid to rest) then you probably know all the stories that follow it like lots of children committed suicide and the Buried Alive and many more the one I'm focusing on is the children that committed suicide when hearing it also know as the Lavender Town Syndrome (LTS) People said that there were frequencies that were so high pitched that only children of a certain age group could hear it and it either made them go insane, have dreadful headaches, suicide, die, become addicted to the game and much more it is a creepy story and I know that most of it's fake the thing is which parts are real and which parts are fake!? Before you search for the original (If you want to) tell me what effects it has on you. Do you feel sick? Do you have a headache? Is it disturbing? I want to know! I've listened to it and felt unwell and had to lie down for about an hour the thing is I can't remember if I had a headache BEFORE I listened to it! Please tell me what you find out! //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/big_smile

Re: Lavender Town Syndrome True Or False?!

It's definitely true. I once listened to it, and I felt incredibly sad and felt like killing myself, and then I got a terrible headache (and I normally don't get headaches), and then I went to sleep and when I woke up... there was blood everywhere. It was a mess. But there are several documented things about it, so I'm pretty confident it's true.

Re: Lavender Town Syndrome True Or False?!

Nintendo didn't purposely do it. It drove them insane, and there were like 3 people who killed themselves. It's all true.
Although, there might be more, Nintendo could be covering it up...

Re: Lavender Town Syndrome True Or False?!

I know some people went insane and killed themselves and I know nintendo didn't do it on purpose it's just WHY didn't they see the frequencies were really high pitched and ARRRGH I have it stuck in my head and I feel really creeped out and it's still playing in my head and I have a headache this is why I don't want to listen to it but I want to find out as much as I can!

Re: Lavender Town Syndrome True Or False?!

Well, I didn't play the game, but one day I was on the weird side of youtube (you know, cats, dogs, fat people falling, monsters popping out of the window etc.) and I heard the music.
...That was the day I killed myself.

Well no, I read the incidents about it- AFTER i listened it twice (because I liked it, nice song though) and I decided to listen it a several times more.
No headaches, no depressions, no suicides (As you see I am still alive) and no psychopath demonic sacrifices. And I don't fell like playing it.
So false. For me. Who knows, maybe I am resistant to it.

Re: Lavender Town Syndrome True Or False?!

The thing is there's 50% of people who say it's real and 50% say that its lies I've done my research and age doesn't matter apparently it is REALLY bad when you have earphones in your ears I've tried it and I would not suggest trying it yourself as it gave me a headache for about a week and I couldn't take it and by the way there's two versions the original which is the one people say is the one that drove people to kill themselves and then there's the altered one the one that is fine but gives you a minor headache but it isn't as bad as the original I know the song is nice but there's something about it that makes it so nice that you feel like something is going to suddenly happen and you wait for it you feel so relaxed about it that you feel exposed to anything and it and yes apparently younger kids could here something some people said that they could hear "voices" telling them to kill themselves but that's what people said and thanks to you all for helping keep on finding out more and posting it here //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

Pretty sure it's fake, I doubt it's possible noise can make you commit suicide. The headaches are probably true though.

I've listened to both versions, and i can't really tell the difference. Also I've played Pokemon Yellow (On emulator) and It doesn't hurt my ears. Maybe it's just my ears...

Re: Lavender Town Syndrome True Or False?!

It's just some old creepypasta. No, it's not real. You won't find any actual news sources on the incident. However, it is a really well-done scary story.

Not sure if any binaural tones are used in the original music, but I know there are low-pitched binaural tones and a soft footstep-like beat added to the infamous "missing frequencies" version of the song. While it is true that binaural tones can affect someone's feelings (I've seen them used in hypnosis and meditation tracks), they can't be used to the point of mind control. Nowhere near that.

The Lavender Town Syndrome is just a scary story. If you liked it, check out the famous "Ben Drowned" creepypasta. It'll make more sense if you've played Majora's Mask, though.

You know, I think this myth should be tested my mythbusters.

If someone were to suggest this "myth" to Mythbusters, Adam and Jamie would just laugh and ignore the idea. Honestly, this isn't even worth to be called a myth. Even the definition for "creepypasta" probably says something about fiction. If the story was true, they wouldn't call it a creepypasta, they would call it a true story (unless they're smart enough to know that no one will believe it's true on the internet, if you state that it is).
The song itself only depresses people because music just does that stuff. Punk rock can make you feel alive, the majority of video game music promotes imagination and fits with everything, current pop music will make you think "oh god it's stuck in my head and giving me a headache" and Mozart is pretty good at doing all the results listed above in unison.

I love the Ben Drowned story //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/big_smile! Also, these are the only two creepypastas I've made it through....

ON-TOPIC: I actually sorta like the music, call me dark.

I thought that until I read the creepypasta thing. At the beginning, it sounded strange how people would get killed and stuff but then a videogame that could...... don't make me explain this "rubbish".

Although, I really like the music too. It makes me feel like my head's going to explode, which is a weird thing to say, but then again, this entire topic oozes weirdness.

(By the way, my first post was a joke. Why couldn't you all play along?)

Haha, though I hardly ever visit this website I could tell at first glance that you were joking, you didn't have to point it out, we all know the kind of person you are xD.

And anyway, though it's completely illogical to think that a song can possibly make people commit suicide, in this way, I do honestly think the Lavender Town theme has that sort of innocently creepy style to it, that just makes you think of psychos in mental hospitals.

I feel oddly proud that people know how I am. I feel like I've achieved something.

But what about Gloomy Sunday (Hungarian ver)? (English ver by Billy Holiday) You know, the Hungarian suicide song. There's totally things regarding it.
wikipedia
Snopes
The original composer killing himself? Totally reeks of a conspiracy to me!
And there's a second ending because apparently the first one was so depressing.
And now I feel slightly melancholy.

So I guess it certainly is plausible... A song could push someone over the edge if they were already thinking about killing themselves...

also, I absolutely adore innocently creepy things. And psychos in mental hospitals. As long as it's not my mother. I don't like her very much.

Re: Lavender Town Syndrome True Or False?!

the lavender town song actually sounds nice-ish. It only sounds scary because:

1. You are thinking "zomg im gonna get a headache"
2. You are thinking "zomg this song gonna make me suiside"
3. You associate this song with death and scary stuff.

EDIT: I'm listening to this song right now, nothing. I think I'll play some EE while it goes on.
EDIT: Last minute is ear rape, no headache, no suicide. Maybe because I enjoyed the song

Re: Lavender Town Syndrome True Or False?!

I played the original pokemon red, pretty much since it came out.   That was before I would just turn the sound off automatically.   I have never felt saddened by any music from a videogame, ever.   Another thing, is I didn't hear about this until 2010, and the game came out in the 90's.   I'm sure I would have heard something, because I used to be obsessed about these games.

^ this.

Also, I'm only 10, and got a headache after literally 5 seconds of it. I already hate it anyway x.x Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure no one died because of it. If you believe someone actually died or got an illness or something, this is what I imagine you saying:

"hurrrrrr de derp beee cuzz it;ssssss on da itnaetrt it hash to bee sstrue becuyz it can't beeasdf 13 yeer ald trolllll derp"

Translation: "Hurr de Derp. Because it's on the internet it has to be true because it can't be a 13 year old troll. Derp.
