Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

The Olympics

Just discuss. Opening ceremony, events, who you're rooting for, whatever you want, as long as it has to do with the Olympics.

Please don't turn this into a flame war.

Re: The Olympics

I watched a lot of the qualifying stuff, and a few seconds of the opening ceremony. Is it just me or did it look like they were at a Quidditch field?

Oh, later in it a giant puppet version of Voldemort came out. So I think those British directors are in love with JK Rowling.

Re: The Olympics

Ok China had a way better opening ceremony. I don't think any country will be able to beat China's for many years to come.

Re: The Olympics

Why, because they were all in order? The funny thing is that everyone is saying "oMgz Nah wooon cn bet cinaz woon dey waz epikkkzzzzzzzzz". Londons was very good, I liked the way it went through from rural england, through the industrial revolution. Maybe the giant voldermort being killed by Mary pPoppins was a bit o.o but who cares.

Also, I just found out the other day, that the slowest 5000 meter times in the 1948 games would have beat the fastest times in the 1908 1500 meters.

Re: The Olympics

I think that was the best opening so far, even better than china, i haven't watched a lot of them but this is probably one of the longest openings.
Industrial revolution was my favorite part, the visual and sound coordination was excelent, the only thing that didn't go as planned was when Paul McCartney cheered the crown to sing 'Hey Jude' along with him and it was verry quiet.

Re: The Olympics

I didn't watch it. I haven't watched any olympic opening, but the parts I did see were really weird. I guess it's the 'industrial revolution' part KanibalFrost mentioned. I did hear about something about James Bond and the Queen skydiving as an entrance? And Voldemort.
I guess that's pretty cool. I don't know how 'cool' Olympic Openings are, but that sounds pretty awesome.

Re: The Olympics

I don't watch the Olympics much, only swimming and track.

I prefer the World Cup because I find it focused and easy to keep track on.

Yeah, WOMEN'S soccer and basketball.

The USA team is jacked up in that category, sand volleyball was more entertaining.

Re: The Olympics

BANG! I heard the word soccer. I am here.
but then again, Olympics are pretty boring, with the U.S. winning everything. The closest thing to competition is if this year's basketball team can beat 1992's dream team

Re: The Olympics

Yeah, it's no fun. Let's kick off Lochte, Jordyn Wieber, and McKayla Maroney. Then it'll be fun.

I thought Lochte was supposed to be better than Phelps, but Phelps beat him, that's good

^He is. Phelps just happened to be stronger in that event than Lochte was.

Re: The Olympics

I watch almost every minute I can of the Olympics.   Sometimes it's boring and sometimes it's not, but I watch it all anyway.   It's like history being made.   The Olympics only come around every two years.   I always regret not watching the Olympics because when the Olympics aren't on I want to watch them.

Re: The Olympics

Yah, the USA mens basketball team just killed those nigerians 156-73.

Seriously, the USA had no mercy on these poor players, breaking like 4 records.

Carmelo Anthony had 37 points in 14 minutes! 14!

If they don't win gold, I'll tear up my walls.

In other news, I hated watching those Chinese intentionally wiff in Badminton against South Korea in order to try and get an easier opponent and the games.

Where's the olympic spirit in that!?!

8 women, including the world champs, were booted from the China team.

Reminds me of the Black Sox scandal back in '19, except it was a popular US sport.
