Methinks it's because of all those "Stay fit, kids" programs Nick has like the Worldwide Day of Play and etc. That and they didn't want Dora to show her tummy, I guess.

Show-your-tummy was the style many years ago. I also notice Dora has sweat pants and Boots has a sweat band. Probably one of those against-childhood-obesity ideas. Like "Cookie Monster" being turned to "Vegie Monster".
