Notice how this is in the USA. And one of the main parts of our constitution is "Freedom of Speech" and "Freedom of Expression". That is what I find bad, (besides in my opinion. not for this situation Kirby, for something else. I have been made fun of for my religion enough anyway. So please, don't think I will stop this type of arguement
anti-gay stuff is not christianity. it is just hatred that has been squeezed into what is a good religion, and is now tainting it. if people would abandon this stupid, hateful, inaccurate and archaic hatred of homosexuals, then christianity's morals would have my full support, even though i am an atheist.

What about this is unconstitutional? If you're referring to freedom of speech, that right has not been stripped. One is free to speak one's mind, but that doesn't mean there won't be consequences. In this case, the mayor of Boston had the ability to stop the establishment of a Chick-fil-A in Boston. Legally, he can do this. The question is whether or not that was right, and why. However, it was not unconstitutional, unless you can cite what part of the Constitution was breached.
How I see it, religion does play a part in the ordeal. If not for the Chick-fil-A president's religion, I doubt he would be against gay rights. As you put it yourself, the reason you believe gay marriage is wrong is because the bible told you so, not because it's your own opinion. While religion may not relate to the mayor's decision, it does to the Chick-fil-A president's decision, the other side of this matter.
EDIT: To expand on the freedom of speech idea, let me make a comparison. Say someone wants to come into my house. I have the right to decline that person from entering my house. On the other hand, I can also choose to let them in. They tell me, "I hate the color orange." I am taken aback by this statement and choose to not let them into my house because they don't like the color orange. Is that fair? Most people would say no. But is it constitutional? Yes.

This makes sense. Religion does play a part in this, but I don't wanna drag people back in that endless pit.

I wouldn't call it hopeless. When it involves politics, what CFA and other companies with a pretty penny do is fundamental in persuading Washington and America's choice in elections.
I'm assuming they support Mitt Romney... I'm sure he could use some money in terms of campaigning and touring.

and fighting gay rights is hopeless. more states are changing their laws to allow gay marriage. things have clearly changed and now it's inevitable that all states will eventually allow gay marriage.

So instead of thinking for yourself you have instead chosen to believe what this book has told you.
Oh, I'm sorry mister high and mighty. I didn't realize you learned about evolution and such through word of mouth and not a book. Christians, at least personally, form a belief based on what they read. No Christian in the world follows the Bible word-for-word because it contradicts itself so many times. Instead of doing your ignorant bashing, take a Bible study class.

Once again, religion is fine, but it's called "faith" for a reason.
You seem to know that it is a faith, yet you argue against it. That seems a bit pointless. Do you know what faith is? Don't answer that, rhetorical.

Try thinking for yourself. Does evolution make much sense? Sounds like some Pokemon crud to me. You only believe it because you read a book that explained it. The Bible is a guideline as much as a textbook is.
And, in the beginning, God made man, did he make another man for Adam? NO! He gave him a woman, Eve.

Chewy, the big difference is that in one case you're getting morals and the other scientific beliefs. If a book told you that sucking people's blood was okay, that would be very different from a book telling you that objects held in circular motion by a string have a force from the string tension towards the center.

I really haven't read much of this article, but I read some. My opinion:
Chick-Fil-A: Y U NO GAY RIGHTS ALLOW?! (Sorry for caps )
Boston MAyor: I like how you accept gay rights. You get a cookie.

unfortunately, that isn't true. that's where fundamentalists come from, and they're pretty much some of the worst people in the world.

I'd appreciate it if we stopped talking about Christianity unless you have anything to add on its view of homosexuality, anything else is off-topic.
Yeah, well, you know that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

I don't hate people who don't support homosexuality, but people who judge it and possibility despise it deserve a shotgun in the balls. That's my opinion, but I support gay marriage cause there is (in my eyes) nothing wrong it. Just think, they love each other, want to celebrate, but since people judge and outlaw it they can't do anything about it. How would they feel?
I'd give props to the mayor for dissing CFA if they are putting money into outlawing homosexuality. If they are just speaking their mind, yes it's a bad decision, but they shouldn't be denied being able to setup a store because of it.

There is just so much wrong with what you just said, I laughed and had to read it twice. Assuming you're not joking, I'll try and respond. Now, this may surprise you, but there's some huge differences between a science textbook and the bible. One is that there's science backing up the content of a science textbook and nothing (read: nothing) backing up the content of the bible. The fact that you even compared the theory of evolution to the idea of a god creating modern-day humans is profoundly sad. I didn't even know there was any person on the face of the earth that denied evolution with today's access to information and education. And yes, there probably still are Christians who accept the bible word-for-word as absolute fact. It might not be you or anyone you know, but they probably exist. And please explain how a bible study class would change my views. I don't even know what that is, but it sounds discomforting.

Arguing against beliefs is pointless? Well, okay, you could say every argument ever was pointless. Unless by your statement you think only facts should be argued against, not beliefs, which... makes no sense at all.

"Does evolution make much sense? Sounds like some Pokemon crud to me." Yep, I think this is the epitome of your argument. You accept the bible's word (remember, no evidence behind it) over scientific evidence? Do you not understand that there's evidence behind evolution? For the sake of logically thinking people, please stop comparing the bible to science. One has fact behind it, the other doesn't. Do you argue with your science teacher about whether or not gravity exists as well because it sounds like something from some other video game you play? And, no, I don't believe in evolution because some book told me so, I believe in evolution because of the (you might've heard this already) SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE behind it.
---
Even if it's only for the sake of comedy, I would love to hear you argue that the bible has evidence behind it and science doesn't. Maybe if Twipply is around he can explain this better than me?

Fair enough. I'm annoyed mostly by this whole "emphasis on the book". There are a lot of Christians who use it as guidelines.

Oh? I guess I'm out of touch with irrational thinking people. Everythingwentbetterthanexpected.
giant snip thing
My main argument was that you put emphasis that it's a book, and no one who follows it thinks for themselves. That, and math class is boring. I can admit when I'm wrong, an that wasn't the exact direction I wanted to go. Oh well. But no, arguing stuff is different. You can not prove, nor disprove faith. But you should know that, because you know what a faith is.

I think I see where you were going with that. I might've been unclear about the book thing. It could be any source of guidance, even a friend. Input is fine, but letting anything, religion or not, decide something for you is wrong. In this case it was the bible, so I went with that. And no, I can't disprove a religion, but I can disagree with some of the morals it teaches.

Love is a human experience. Not a political statement
I think the quote is by Anne Hathaway.
Personally, I think people shouldn't be persecuted for their beliefs, be it homosexuality in Chick-Fil-A's case, or religion in this topic's little derailment's case. People are who they are, and they shouldn't be refused food (or, I suppose, be -repped). Nobody's perfect.
Sorry for kind of bring this topic back to life, but the intensity is getting even more intense. You'll see what i mean if you read about this type of thing. But for those of you who say something like "gay people are born gay", God would never make someone born against his word. He doesn't want this to happen. Here are some verses in the bible about homosexuality:
Leviticus 18:22 - "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable."
Leviticus 20:13 - "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."
"For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due." (Romans 1:26-27).
"as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire." (Jude 7)
As you can see, the bible CLEARLY states against homosexuality. And off-topic: I think the rapture is coming soon, because it says that in the last days, (very close to the rapture) many people will hate god, defy him, and will act as though they are wise through other religions. It says that if someone who defies god, and is "wise" is actually a fool.
