Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Writing your name on bills

A while back I saw "272" written on a dollar bill I'd received as a tip and thought of the 272 from this forum. I thought it would be rather cool to write our names (forum names) or a shortened version on bills (I actually thought of this that day, but just now got to posting it) with EE or something written under it, and when people get our bills and recognize the writing they can post it here. It's kind of like Where's George, except it's not limited to places using USD (as I'm aware that some places in Canada accept USD at face value exchange for Canadian dollars). In the case that anyone decides to do this, I'll keep a chart.

Currently, the format is

[Forum username] (or) [shortened username] (or) [acronym for username]
EE (or) EEF (or) EEForum

Does anybody find this interesting? I do.

Thoughts? Bread loaves?

Re: Writing your name on bills

Yes, I do find this interesting. I have never related names on paper money to EE but I guess next time I see one I will think about it! However, I don't exactly feel confortable writing Notsobad on a dollar (its kind of defacing it in a way) plus I would just give it to my friend so he could post it here which doesn't seem fair. Great idea though.

Re: Writing your name on bills

I suppose it's sort of like "Defacing" it, but what you could do is write

NSB
EE

That's not much at all, and while I wouldn't recognize 'NSB', I'd recognize 'EE'

Re: Writing your name on bills

This seems sort of sketchy in a this-might-be-illegal kind of thing
but I suppose I'll write a Z2 on all my bills.

This is a great idea! If I ever find one I'll be so excited.

The chances of finding one are extremely slim, but that would just make it even more amazing if you find one.

Are you saying you've never seen a bill with any extraneous ink? It can't possibly be illegal.

Well I didn't mean it was entirely defacing but disapproved and frowned upon by the human community. I have no clue how to word that but I don't want to be blamed for a new era of writing names on bills if this catches for some reason.

However, I just want to say that I'm not against the idea and I actually find it interesting (just stating my opinion on it). Also, I'm on the lookout for bills lol.

If I ever do this I'll be writing in very small letters either "BOB-EE" or "~Towwl" on the bottom left corner of the bill.

Because the chances one of us are going to find these marked bills out of the trillions of them out there are SO high...

It's gonna be so funny when you guys realize I'm an agent of the U.S. Mint and am in contact with foreign currency producers.

I'm aware of the illegality of said act, but it's not like you don't see hundreds of bills with writing on them even posted to the internet, and thousands of bills over the course of time that have had writing on them (if you've been fortunate enough to handle such an amount). I'm entirely sure that you could walk up to the president (given the privilege to), mark on a bill (or do anything to it), and get off scott free (that is, nobody named Scott would escort you to prison that night). I think.

or does any other thing to any bank bill

crap, the next time I fold any of my bank bills I'll watch my back.

That's the whole idea. If it were going to be a common occurrence, why would it be worthy of any attention?

If you find writing these tags on all of your bills a bit tedious (I know I will), your one dollar (or lowest denomination in your country) bills will suffice, as they are likely the most traded around people my age (which I assume you are for the most part).

The location of your mark shouldn't be an issue, but for people participating in the US region (or that use USD), I think that it'd be best to write on the side with the president's face on it (the face side?), because it doesn't have those annoying and obtrusive security lines/decorative patterns on the major areas.

Although, the only person who might find my money is Squad, because I'm in the UK

Re: Writing your name on bills

Today, I defaced some money. Then, I proceeded to look up if writing on money was illegal. Yes. It is.
So I took a picture of it. here

I'm going to try and spend it in different places so it won't arise suspicion as to why some girl at a high school gave a cashier 4 dollars of defaced lunch money, all with the same thing written on it.

I once got a where's george bill. It was awesome.

God, if anyone sees this, we're all going to jail or something.

Um, that source only concerns coins.

Now think for a moment: when you receive a hundred dollar bill for a small charge, it's recommended that you "deface" it in order to determine whether or not it's real. If such an action were a crime, then a lot more people would be paying fines or serving jail time.

I'd also like to point out that "Where's George?", as well as similar organizations, is not run by the government, and certainly hasn't received any official sanction, yet it prints on millions of bills.
