Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I'm curious to see if we have any musicians on the forum. I do not mean you just have an instrument, have played a few notes on an instrument. I want to know who would actually be able to play something if I gave them some sheet music straight away, also don't lie, I know it seems strange but the amount of people who lie about these things is amazing.
I play: Piano, Violin and Ocarina.
What do you guys and gals play?
I used to play the guitar, but my amp broke. >:U
I can't read sheet music, so no.
But i'm a Music Producer.

^What a wonderful, unnesecary rant
I play piano and drums of all sizes.
I can play with lots of instruments, but i can only play sheet music with violin. I can read tabulatures though. But still i play drums, piano, organs, ocarina, recorder (actually pretty much), and other stuff just for fun, without sheets. I think plaing music is the best way to spend time

I play the piano and the mandolin. ^_^

Piano. I'm learning the trombone in 2013.
Like Cow, I'm studying music, but more specificaly musicology.
I'm a guitarist, a singer ( both lyrical/classic singer and nowadays-music singer, I also sing in a choir ), I play the piano a bit - I actually take "harmony on piano" lessons, which teach me to harmonize and analyze everything I play. I'm also learning musical writing, which is quite fun.²
I intend to pass my music school degree for guitar/solfège as soon as possible in the next few years, while studying at university to get a master degree in musicology. And if I can, I'd love to join a composition school - which is quite hard actually.²
@Cow : It's funny because at our university, we expect everyone to understand how a piano works and how to plays a bit on it, not a guitar. But we're learning "classical" music, so I guess it's normal.

So Rava would Musicology be theory or something else? I don't quite understand what it is.
I played piano for a long time, i still do actually.
I tried guitar a few times, my brother was playing it mainly.
Also if i will have time maybe i will start accordion too.

I play the clarinet. I cannot paly realy advanced music, because I'm a beginner. I have an account on Noteflight. You can view my music here, here, and here. Note: 2nd and 3rd ones are not meant to be playable.

Well, we learn how to analyse music, we practice our ear-skill - and learn to recognize composers/periods by ear, as long as instruments and singed languages singed, we learn how to write music in specific styles ( Renaissance style, Mozart's quartet style, etc. ), we learn classical and jazz music history, and we also learn singing a bit - in a quartet and in a choir.
It's mostly theorical, of course, that's why I have a music school to learn my instruments ( guitar/lyrical singing ).
With the musicology degree opens doors for composition schools, conductor schools, music research - with maths stuff for example - or studying old archive to find undiscovered partitions - for exemple a musicologist found a Bach Cantate in 2006 that was forgotten in Weimar's archives.

I play clarinet well and stay in practice for in case there's a draft. Then if I get chosen I can join the army's band. This Actually Works If You're Good Enough.

You play the clarinet? ... i don't wanna know. Why did you capitalize the first letters of every last word in the last sentence?
Offline
Because I decided to consider it a proper noun that was multiple words that weren't all nouns. )

Vocals are my main instrument. I'm decent at the piano, but nowhere near good enough to sightread.

I am sorry for doubting you krubby. Please forgive me.

Defining being a musician as being able to read sheet music is a little..uh...really really stupid.
I've been playing guitar for around 5 years? maybe six I've lost track I can read sheet music but not that well, like i can learn something from sheet music with some time but I can't site read or anything(the only reason I know it all is from a piano class and from a music theory class, I have no real training aside from very basic melodies in reading for guitar, but one of the nice things about music notation is it's fairly universal!) I consider myself pretty alright? I can fingerpick and stum pretty well which is really all i do for the music i try to play/write nowadays, which I guess is somewhat limited in being very much centered in more rhythm-y guitar stuff but whatever, back when I last tried to play lead guitar I was fairly proficient at it though.
Aside from guitar I play bass, ukulele, keys, mandolin, and banjo, I'm also pretty good at open tuned guitar which is like 1/4 of the way to being another instrument
I'm not amazing at any of those other instruments though I'm good enough for my own devices I guess, I REALLY want to learn accordion and harp next and have a pretty vast understanding of how they both work so I think teaching myself won't be too hard.
Alex I put that so people wouldn't write "we have a piano at school and I played a few note on it".
Aside from that learning the Lyre (hand harp) looks interesting.

I have been learning bass guitar since January, but I am probably too stupid to do anything with it, right Saintcool?
The ocarina is actually a thing? That exists today? WHAT?! I only ever associated it with Zelda, and I never even played those games.
To keep this on topic, I've played guitar for nearly eleven years now, so yeah, I can read sheet music. I've lost my talent for other stuff I used to play, but I think I could still find my way around a piano.
I can't read sheet music, so no.

For some reason i didn't bother to write much in my last comment. I didn't mention that i had played the Drums from when i was around 8 years old to when i was 10 years old. I was apparently quite a natural accoridng to my teacher but lost interest in it by the time i was 10.
To add to this, i've also recently purchased and started learning to play the Congas and learning Latin Jazz / Salsa rhythm and there culture. I find it fascinating.
I'm also a Beatboxer, which may not conventionally be seen as being a musician but it takes a lot of practice like any instrument does.
But i'm still mainly a Music Producer.

Lol. If I'm right, ocarinas existed way before the game ocarina of time.

Even though I like Zelda I always get offended when the first thing people say is, oh did you get that so you can play Zelda songs.
