Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Echo: "Do you really think you can just snap out of depression, and think of happy things while depressed? It's really not that easy"
Reply:
I don't even know what to say.
Rant due to this reply:
If it's that freaking easy to do why do people commit suicide due to depression. If it's that easy to "snap out of" why are the a hell load of anti depressants... Why do are there professionals to help you. Most of all why do I still have depression?

Echo, it's possible to be happy or cheerful even when you're depressed. I've had a lot of hardships in my life, but rarely have I ever let them get to me. I try and block out all the negativity in the world and fill it with happiness. I let myself forget about worries, no matter what situation I'm in, and let myself know that there will always be joy in the end and that a bright attitude can always win the war.
No matter how depressed you are, you can always find something good out of it. Always.
EDIT: I've always viewed suicide in poor manner. If someone is really sad and can't find any happiness out of it, I feel they're thinking in the wrong way. Life is hard, but it will always be a blessing.

As an addition to that post:
Be friendly, and feel joy of spreading joy. It's a great feel if you feel it truly. There is always a best way, and try to take that path. Why look at the bad things and feel bad, when you can look at the good things and feel better?

Grr.
I'm not "depressed because my boyfriend dumped me" I was born with my depression, you don't just "grow out of it" or "distract your self" it's there.
Do you know the difference between sad and depression, being sad, and depressed are completely different things. Maybe you should all do you research before telling me how it is.
why on earth would I be seeing a psychiatrist weekly, if I can just go *happy thought* "OH CRAP MAN, IM CURED AFTER THESE 17 YEARS, IT WAS THAT EASY", seriously..

To paraphrase:
One does not simply think happy thoughts out of depression.

Echo, why don't you go and do stuff that makes you happy more often. Or go do something that is life changing, go do a sky dive.
Or when of age, go do something completely of the scale. Go and volunteer for aid work somewhere, I have no doubt that would change something.
Find something to take depression out of.
And to everyone else, you all do not understand that no one can snap out of depression. There is no magic cure, the only thing that helps is time, or a specific thing which will give hope to the individual.

Anyway, not I'm a bit calmer let me rephrase my rant.
You can snap out of depression if it's caused by an event, though it's still pretty hard..
But if you have depression due to a chemical imbalance, that is - clinical depression, you can not snap out of it, it will probably never go, but you can take medication to help cope. However when you have treatment resistant depression, it's alot harder.
I don't know what's so hard to understand, I'm not depressed due to an even in life, Gee. born with it. Hereditary, No?

Well, if you were born with it, and medication is the only thing you can do to help it, I guess I have no real suggestions then to help you cope.

Medication is not only thing to help it

Then what else helps? It would be nice to know.
Do something which can change your outlook, motivation. It's not anything specific, it's an individual thing. It could range from taking up painting to being in a relationship. But of course, it could take weeks to years to claw their way out of it.
Echo told me he has a depression that can't be treated with antidepressants.
