You can argue that we never needed religion, but we will never truly know. Because religion helped to form societies and advanced some areas of society such as architecture, writing etc.

I don't understand why anyone would make a topic like this. You're demonstrating absolutely no understanding of Nordic culture, and you're blatantly mocking Catholicism. The only possible reason you could have for posting in such a heretical manner is to mock religious people through a huge argument that nobody can win.

From my perspective religion has done more harm than good. I mean think about it.... the crusades, the great schism, and even Confucianism ( which is more of a philosophy than a religion).

Religion puts barriers on worldly knowledge. They try to explain things through god and use 'god' like an excuse for why things are the way they are.

I think the world can only be explained through scientific reasoning. I don't believe in luck, I think things are just the way they are. There is no real fates, it's science.

But could society have developed enough without religion to understand science? Probably, but it is likely to have taken longer.

Frost giants? Other than the ones on the History channel, nope.

Out of curiosity, where did Jesus say he would free the world from evil people? Because (as someone who goes to church weekly despite being atheist), as I understand it, is a commonly-held Christian belief that all humans are sinners and will hurt themselves.

Yet you are here, today, in a country deeply shaped by religion, not cut off from worldly knowledge. Some people are pretty slow in terms of worldly knowledge, but that is not necessarily something that should be discouraged because it could be, for all we know, the secret to a great and powerful country.

My state may be shaped by religion, but I am not religious. Just because my mom and grandma or catholic doesn't make me catholic. I have and never will be baptized.

I don't see the point of wasting a perfectly good weekend praying to a thing that probably doesn't even exist, I could be doing more productive things like sleeping or homework.

If my life sucks because of health problems it's probably just due to genetics. If my life sucks because I am lonely, it is probably because I am doing something wrong. No one controls my actions but me, and my life won't get any better just because I start praying to some god.

You don't need to be religious in order to be shaped by religion, mind you. You and I are not religious, yet without religion we would be completely different people. We may not even exist without religion.

Even an extra flap of a butterfly's wing will change you one way or another, imagine what something as deep, old, and prevalent as religion will do. It's an ingredient in a recipe, is what I'm trying to say. We shouldn't go around dissing it because it's so horrible when in actuality you don't know how the world would be without it.

Thor didn't take out all the ice giants! Sure he got close, but sadly he died. Krubby was his sidekick. That type of sidekick that does everything yet doesn't get crap.

Watch a show called the stranger, it has some very good scientific contradictions to your opinion. Anyway, usually when the frost giants come i have my baseball bat ready. I haven't really had much trouble because blowing my trumpet in their ear crumples them down.

Instead of pointing out scientific flaws, explain how religion is logical.

e.g. How can creationism work if there are dinosaurs?

Unless you have actual scientific evidence that Thor is real, then he is fake. You cannot make a claim without backing it up. Just saying "well because he's a god...". No. He is nothing more than a figment of someones imagination who has gained iconic status.
