Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Esperanto - Ĉu vi parolas Esperanton?

Bonvenon!

So let's get a backstory. I have always been in love with languages. I plan on travelling the world one day, and how could I do that without languages? They're so interesting and so much fun to learn. I've heard about Esperanto for a long time, a couple years or so, but I have recently invested much time into learning it.

In less than a twelve-hour time period, I have made over ninety flash cards to help me learn the language, I have taken seven pages of notes and I plan on continuing this study. I would like to become fluent in a year's timespan.

So I want to discuss this language: Esperanto.

It is called an "artificial language", when in reality it is not necessarily artificial, but rather constructed, and planned. It is a politically neutral language that has a couple million speakers, and it was designed as an easy language to learn (usually as a second language) to break language barriers between cultures, without ruining a culture's heritage. There are no irregular verbs or nouns, which makes it super easy to catch on to. There are no words with gender, also making it easy. Syntax doesn't matter as much as it does in most languages, which again makes it a lot less difficult to learn.

I hope to learn it, and maybe some other forumers who know it, or would like to know it can go on the quest with me, and as such we could speak a modern, well-constructed language together.

Saluton!
I do not think it is useless at all to learn. I have heard people say that it does not have any cultural background, but the purpose is not for enjoyment, it is for uniting the world. But it can be for enjoyment of culture anyway! There have been books written in, and translated to Esperanto.
