Super Hostile (Minecraft maps)

Hey guys I am here to say that I never thought minecraft could literally make me cry, well, I was wrong.

If you ever thought that minecraft is too easy and has nothing hard about it, well you should try out the Super Hostile maps by Vechs.

I always thought that I was good at pvp, and I thought that since pvp was easy, so was survival. I had not expected survival maps to be so much harder than pvp. I had never expected to die and rage so many times from a survival map. These maps are truly amazing and definitely deserve all the support.

Don't believe me that it is hard? I'ma leave you with a little challenge, figure out how to get to the bottom of the pit and get these chests... the flooring, walls and the ceiling is made out of silverfish blocks, so if you brake one, be ready to get stormed by them. I tried torching the place up but it didn't work either. Personally I couldn't figure it out. (I play on hard difficulty.)

Haha you cried at a game

Stratagies:

Light up ceiling and walls to disallow hidden spawners
Learn how minecraft spawning works and divert the spawn (noob lol)
Lavabucket the **** out of the mobs

Have you played super hostile maps? Or are you saying this from vanilla minecraft experience?
I lost ~2 stacks of iron near this pit trying to get to those chests. It was probably not worth it in the end...
I destroyed all the visible spawners, however it didn't seem to help. I also torched up the place quite well by placing 1 torch, dying and repeating that. I would not have enough arrows to kill all the mobs in that pit.
Lava bucket would be a bad idea, it will only make it into a mess and make it more harder to get to the chests. Water bucket to slow them down won't work either.
1 poisoness spider hit takes away 2/3 of your health, I'd die about 100 times before I clear all the mobs out by fighting them.

Also I played minecraft since Beta 1.8.1 so I am pretty sure how spawning works. I just cannot think of a way to get to the chests legit, without using creative mode or such.

The only thing I can think of is to get a ton of blocks and just try and build a path that mobs can't reach, and slowly work your way down, making sure to fill in any open areas.

My question: if you make cobblestone (like from lava and water), will it still spawn a silverfish? Because if not, lava, water, all the mobs are dead, get the chests.

That's right, you can always use bridging. And unless you're some purist noob who only plays alpha/beta versions of the game, they fixed lava decay taking 10 minutes. So just remove the source block.
