Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

The largest political news atm is the Russian "Invade" or "Help" to the Krym. I have noticed that the people's opinions seriously differ depending on where they live and what news they watch.
Since I am Russian and I live in New Zealand, I am able to embrace both opinions and come out with huge differed view points on this topic.

View Point of Russia:
Krym was a gift to Ukraine by a Russian leader in 1954 due to a political agreement with Ukraine. Due to this gift being so recent, close to 90% of the people that live there are actually Russian who have made many riots against being governed by Ukraine and asked Russian's multiple times to come and save them with quotes such as "we want to return home". So president Putin finally decided to answer the calls for help from the people and return Krym rightfully to Russia as it was back in 1954. Unfortunately, the Ukraine government refused to allow the people and this part of Ukraine to go back to Russia therefore the Putin had nothing to do but to move the army force into this part of Ukraine to move their government out and allow the people to have a vote on the further plans of becoming Russian once again. This voting system was done completely democratically and none of the army forces from Russia had any effect on it with 80% of the population in Krym voting, with 95.5% of these people that voted, had voted "yes" for becoming part of Russia. After this, the news showed multiple places in Krym where there were celebrations being held, ranging from Russian flags being hung out of windows from people's homes to massive concerts, fireworks displays, etc. also all done by the people. The news also showed multiple interviews with people crying from happiness, saying "we finally returned home" and an interview I really enjoyed watching of a school in Krym being interviewed how close to all the people going to the school were Russian and they wouldn't understand the Ukraine language books they were receiving from the government which made them have to translate a lot of the time, reducing their learning ability, this interview showed how happy this school was to finally receive Russian education and feel at home.

View Point of NZ as well as probably the US and the Europe regions:
The Russians had used armed forces to take over Krym, even though Putin promised not to go further than Krym, they still do not rightfully own it and therefore have broken multiple international laws and deserve punishment. The voting system was all biased as the people that lived there were threatened by the overwhelming Russian forces. 20% of the people were not allowed to vote which makes the voting system even more biased. The Russians made further multiple attacks on the Ukraine government even after the voting system and are continuing to do so frequently. Only the Russian people actually celebrated because they were happy from taking over this part of Ukraine. Ukraine did nothing to the people, it was Russia that actually attacked with the sole reason to gain more power and control.

This might seem very biased from me but this is literally the opinions I heard from the Russian news, my parents, my NZ friends and the news my NZ friends talk about therefore this is not biased. I have gotten into 1v2-1v4 arguments before with my NZ friends and no one can prove who is actually right so the arguments never end.

I would like to know your opinion on the issue. I am guessing the opinions are going to be one sided (against Russia) but I would still like to hear from everyone.

Russia is the new fascist country
Russia is the new fascist country
That is some deep stuff you said... There is actually a high chance of a war happening if the USA attacks Russia, not sure if it will go far enough into WWIII however unlike the Nazi's you still have to consider that Krym citizens asked to become part of Russia. Also unlike the Nazi's, Russia is not planning to go farther than Krym and is certainly not planning on killing people.
A war between USA and Russia is very likely to lead to WWIII, we can only hope that this doesn't happen.

Nobody will attack Russia, nothing will happen besides in Ukraine. To get the US involved they would need something which directly effects them, e.g. oil. And if WWWIII starts, it will be due to Russia, since they almost caused nuclear war 3 times. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_III
I don't think anything will happen because this entire event is just political defiance from Russia, a big middle finger
heyyyy i'm russian too but that really doesn't mean much because I don't do any russian culture besides i drew a picture of a ushanka once
