Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Luckily I missed the whole make-up stage when I was a kid. My mom couldn't afford to buy me anything really, and I never like dressing up anyway. I used to think so many girls my age, as a kid, were just acting superficial. Now that I'm older I still don't wear make-up, or use hairspray. I don't care about looking like an idealized woman, I care more about being comfortable with who I am.

Sex sells. I don't really want to base this post in just two words but the obvious goal of media corporations usually is money and not causes and principles. Having an "unchanged", homely woman in your ad can be successful and I recall some examples of it, but somewhat ironically it's mostly done to also bring more attention to your company's "ethics" (and thus the company and your products themselves), not the actual view of women in media - which cynical viewers will point out, even if you're really doing it for a cause.
Alright, pass the popcorn...

In all seriousness, it's not a joke.

after all of that popcorn, posting an actually opinion feels off topic.
Yes, women don't look like that in real life. Yes, it is an issue and generates problems for our children. Yes, something should be done about it.
But what can you do, really? Companies make a buttload off advertising, and they have no incentive to change. Sure, you may have some companies that make a stand (The Body Shop is a store that does this in Australia, I'm sure you can think of other examples). But only buying products from places like that won't stop the issue. More celebrities like Kate Winslet to making a point and bringing it into the public eye.
Will that help? Probably not. Without sounding like a hardcore socialist or anything, this problem exists because companies make money off it and would like to continue making money. Being ethical isn't profitable.
If you really want to make a difference, make the issue apparent to others and don't support companies that don't fit your moral code. Make being unethical unprofitable.
All of this actually stating my opinion has made me hungry... I'm gonna need a lot of popcorn.

Well I might get a lot of flame for this post but it really depends from which perspective you look at the issue. If you look from "Social" point of view then yes it is a huge problem in society. However, my point of view tends to be closer to "Economical" point of view and in my opinion sex advertising is very beneficial for the businesses, economy, countries, etc.
I doubt this but can someone find a popcorn image with the person eating money instead of actual popcorn?

you can warn them anytime now, lol it's been 2 fake warnings... not even I got that many
Honestly i believe that this generation is incredibly weak. We try to look like other people rather than embracing our own being and our own thoughts because we are not comfortable with other peoples thoughts. Which also includes bullying. Why is bullying being brought up in the past 100 years or so compared to wayyyy back? Because people got attention and comfort when bullied. At any chance they try to get the attention of others. Many people that have anorexia are open about it and want people to feel sorry for them. Most being very strong feminists. All complaining about how the images are portrayed on television and magazines. If they were true feminists they wouldn't believe in trying to persuade other peoples thoughts about a photo for that's what the magazines are already doing to them. Feminists are the people that annoy me the most. These photos are merely just a advertising trick to try to get people to buy their product, nothing less nothing more. Most are used by using very revealing girls because people like revealing girls. If people want others to stop trying to be the people on those magazines and start being fat then let them, i see no problem with that. But the obese rate will only continue to grow. if anything these advertisements are making the next generation skinnier. Yes some are way too overboard but that is the lack of self confidence that wasn't established by a supporting family. or supporting friends. Long story short, people need to stop complaining about these advertisements, because they are wasting their breath and focus on more concerning matters..... Cancer is a great start.
