Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I am a gender fluid (usually male) bisexual and still at school and going into next year the uniform dress code has got stricter and sixth form no longer has a set school uniform but an office uniform (your own smart clothes) which means in the dress code there is a male section and a female section - so I went to the head of sixth form "I have a |queery| about the dress code - is the dress code separated for gender or for sex?" and the rely was "sex", I then asked if the sections could be crossed over to allow more freedom to show a person's identity and it was met with a blunt "No, you're a guy - dress like one."
I'm not asking for special privilages - any male can follow the 'female' guidelines (currently females can follow the 'male' guidelines - which is completely unfair)
• What do you guys think about this matter?
• Should uniform be based upon gender and not sex?
• Should females be able to cross the sex boundary of the dress code and not males?
I think that I will interpret the dress code as gender and stay within those boundaries - and I will stand up for myself anyway
(I have the support of subject teachers but not the sixth form administration)

who cares?
This may not seem like a big deal to you but it is to me - I care about my identity, and being able to feel comfortable as the person I am.

Our schools have a dress code meant for everyone. We don't have a separate guideline for genders.
One of my close friends asked the principle if he was aloud to wear a skirt because he lost a bet, and the principle said he didn't care as long as the skirt was below his finger tips with his arms hanging to his sides.
I personally don't care what people wear, if you're a guy and want to wear women's clothes, more power to ya. But don't do it just to prove that you can push boundaries and get away with it. If it's something you are seriously into then I don't see a problem with it.

Uniform should be identified by who the person is, so in my opinion, there should be no restrictions to gender, but simply restrictions to having to wear a uniform. It looks orderly enough anyway, and not like it affects the schools image. It might even improve it, allowing students freedom of choice.
Especially as our school gives detentions for no hats during summer/spring if you are doing sport (even if you are playing in the indoor stadium...), wrong sock colour (usually just a warning though) e.tc

You're not a computer. Don't let rules dictate how you behave.
I say that if you want to dress according to the female dress code, then do it.
If they cough a fit about it, then you can tell educate them on gender fluidity and propose a revision to the rules.
A lot of times, when dealing with administration, they don't listen. The only way to make sure they listen is to be vehement but still logical.
Although, if this is an institution that prides itself on "conservative" values, you might be fighting a losing battle.
Yeah, well, you know that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

Even if you don't get physically bullied and even if you won't lose any friends, there will still be a lot of talk behind your back and you won't be able to make any new friends (other than girls who would find you interesting to talk to.) If you don't want to get that silent bullying I strongly suggest you to dress by sex not by gender no matter what your sexual orientation is.
Also, if you dress by sex it will be easier to talk to people as they will view you by who you are and not by your sexual orientation. Therefore there won't be any offensive stereotypes made against you. I know life is unfair but it's just in human nature to be prejudice against gay people, don't give them a reason to hate on you.

My school's uniform is literally just a white shirt with the school logo on it and awful dark blue pants, although I'm already used to wearing it. According to Google Images, every other country has at least decent uniforms, male or female.
And on-topic.. Uuh.. Nice initiative, that's all I can say..

Sex is how you are born, gender is your identity. The two are not intertwined. However, something as simple as a school uniform doesn't seem worth fighting for. I had to wear uniforms in middle school, never bothered me. I dealt with it, graduated, and do what I want now.
Unless the gender code is affecting you, ie: You or someone you know wants to wear the girls uniform, I don't see the problem.

From what I have learned a school uniform should make you indifferent from others with the intention to prevent any kind of prejudices, exclusion or otherwise unwanted behavior within the school itself. One example might be expensive cloths. Some have them, most do not and in this case others consider you some kind of invaluable member of the community or otherwise not "worthy" to even talk to.
You should question your surrounding communty. Are they tolerant enough to accept you wearing the woman stuff? If not, you would (unfortunalety) slip into the mentioned situation of possibly being excluded for being different in some way. Everyone should live his own life without prejudices pressuring them. However, at some point one has consider if it is good to be different.
Furthermore the school responsable for you and their rules apply during school time. Thats another thing to keep in mind. They follow a certain intention with all this school uniform thingy.
My opinion regarding your matter
ps: I had no school uniform for my entire school time and have seen which problems can occur. But again, thats like 15-20 years ago and the internet was still unknown to 99% of the population The world might have changed since then.

Hi.

The thing is 9/10 I will wear completely male clothes and that one day I might just change a little bit, all my friends aren't bothered by what I wear and I'm not really noticed by anyone else at school.
As for uniform being there to make everyone ... uniform - I have seen some people in suits and others in tacky shirts (so it's not very uniform anyway)
The female dress code is also more relaxed (can basically wear anything) so I'm sure even guys who are not genderfluid will take parts from the female dress code (it's pretty unfair - they're also allowed dyed hair and we aren't [I want white/pink hair -.-])

Maybe you are too young to understand things beyond the surface. It's not about what he wears, it's about being depraved of the freedom of choice. Specifically, it is the freedom of choice regarding gender identity. The school is saying that he doesn't have that choice.

But this isn't about freedom, or rights, or morals. This is about people making up stupid laws and rules, making imaginary gender identities and demanding people tolerate them. It is completely ridiculous.
The most ironic thing about this is that while people like you and Squad feel that it is an injustice to act against you, what people you two enforce is a restriction of freedom.
The only thing people like you two is succeeding in is promoting the degradation of modern generations, and ruining the reputation of Socialism.
I care far more about the destruction of the world's ecosystems far more than catering to the demands of individuals who are so vain that their lifestyle and personality is based on their own weird gender identity.

wise words
Treejoe, bimps, I'm ready sorry that you were raised in such a way that makes you biased to people who aren't comfortable with the gender they were forced to have at birth. I do hope you research more into it and experience some of these things in person so you know that people really are concerned about their identity as a human being, and gender is one of the most identifying factors in today's society. Some people, however, do not want an identity at all with something as frivolous as gender.
Please be more respectful and think about who you're offending before you post.

If someone decides they are a transexual I will treat them as the gender they identify with. But what makes me very angry is when people like you dictate that I should follow the sudden thousands of rules just to avoid offending someone who describes them self as 'gender fluid'.
When is it going to end with you people, are workplaces going to have to install a litterbox for people who think they are cats?
Why is any of this important? Why aren't any of you people concerned with the enviroment, or science, or the corruption of modern democracy?
Treejoe4 finally someone who makes sense, Why care about what kind of clothes people wear when there are more important things to care about.
