I've never had problems with people reading statistics and stuff. Maybe he was a bit harsh sometimes, but hey, everyone should be allowed to say exactly what they want at all times.

The 55% number really got my attention, so I verified it and found that he isn't even in the ballpark. The actual number is 0.3%, if you give him all the benefit of the doubt (because these numbers are never accurate).

His information:
96% molesters male (I guess this is true); 33% victims male (wrong); 1% homo nationally (underestimate); 1% of people commit 33% of molestation (as I will prove, this makes no sense)

I'm not even going to bother figuring out how he got the 55% number, but I do know that he's making these numbers up and is omitting a couple things. I'm going to find out myself.

To begin, he fails to mention that only 30% of molestation is even reported. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that the data is complete.

18% of molestation is male, not 33%
No idea where he got the 96% number but I'll go with it because it sounds right.

Divide these two percents to get the percent of cases committed by a gay man.
(18 / 100) * (96 / 100) = 17.2 / 100 = 17.2%

He claims that 1% of people (3,183,513) commit 33% of the number of reported cases. No idea where he got this number either, but I'll go with it.
63,000 cases reported in 2010.
Multiply the number of cases by the percent to find the number of cases the 1% commits.
63000*(1/3) = 20,998

This means 3,183,513 commit 63,000 acts of molestation. That doesn't even make sense.
If you divide these numbers, you get 0.6 acts per person. How do you molest someone 0.6 times?

Let's ignore that detour and give him the benefit of the doubt: every man commits one act and then is reported.

Multiply the percent by the amount of cases to find the number of cases committed by a gay man.
63000 * 0.172 = 10,887

318,351,393 total US population
2% gay men
Multiply the population times the percent to get total gay men in US
318351393 * (2/100) = 3,183,514

Divide this number by the cases done by a gay man.
10887 / 3183514 = a whopping 0.3% of gay men commit some act of pedophilia. Where does he get 55% from???

This brings into question all of his purported information.

I deny the claim that homosexuals are a problem in America. At least, until someone can give me real information instead of figments of their imagination and cherry-picked statistics.

Tako, why are you getting so mad??? He does make a few legit points, but this is mainly to **** off the audience.

The same guy made a fake resume to get onto TED, and gave a 20 minute, nonsensical speech on ideas and the sfuture. Including making crops on the seabed for 'sea yams'. Oh, and he also wearing body armour.

Honestly, I don't care. This isn't like Joan Rivers who says stupid things for attention. He made a structured argument and claimed to have reliable data. And as you can see from the video and comments, a lot of people took him seriously.

If you're a proponent of traditional marriage, how would you respond? You're obviously not being trolled, you're being informed of these amazing statistics. You're going to be furiously taking notes as he's talking and then actually use the argument with someone else. This is precisely the kind of BS I overhear people talking about. "Dude, you know what I found out? One in two gays molests children." "That's ****ed up."
