Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Are babies alive? (Fetus')

So lots of people think babies in the womb are not alive some think it is. If you think that a baby in the whom is alive then is abortion murder?

If they aren't important to you then explaining it would be pointless.

This is a false statement.

I think they are alive in some sense. I have no problem with abortion though. I'd rather see a person get an abortion, then to have the baby and realize they can't feed or take care of it.

Re: Are babies alive? (Fetus')

They are biologically alive, though a proper nervous system hasn't been formed. The line has been morally drawn within the prenatal development stages.

I wouldn't want to be declined removal of an organism growing inside myself, nor would I wish to be born into a life without parents.
For the parent(s), life is stressful enough, and it isn't wise to add to it, responsibilities that you cannot carry.

As well as there already being enough humans in this world, and many of those people are suffering.

Meanwhile, there are living creatures being raised and slaughtered en masse, and I haven't seen enough disapproval for that. So, it's rather hypocritical from these protestants, though many of them are religious and are thereby ignorant that we are animals, and will claim that 'There's a difference!' ... but, I digress.

Biologically they are not alive.

Depends on your definition of life.

I'm basing my definition on the biologically definition and the things that an organism NEEDS to be considered alive.

Even if they are not alive, I think it is wrong preventing somebody from living. I think abortion should be treated the same way as murder.

So are condoms murder? They prevent pregnancies.

Cells are alive. Fetuses are made mostly of cells. Fetuses are alive.

What if the potential mother was living in a slum, cannot afford to support the child, and is already leeching away on government welfare? That child might live, but it for most of its life it will be hungry, miserable, and angry. Why put them through that torture? Abortion is probably the kindest thing you can do, even if it seems wrong.

Weak argument. With condoms, that life never existed in the first place. Same goes for contraceptives. Both of them prevent a life from being created.
With abortion, you're snuffing out a life that was already created, which makes it murder in my opinion.

I'm sure if any of you were pregnant and didn't want to have a child, you would consider abortion as well.

Not only is it sadistic to force impregnated women to follow through with having a child, but you're also putting their life at risk, as well as the child's.

It's unfathomable, to me, how disgusting someone needs to be to decline abortion as an option to rape victims.
However, this is exactly what the religious are for.

Don't let yourself fall into these miserable ideologies, we are not talking about killing babies.
We are talking about killing a fetus. In Canada, 90% of abortions occur within the first 12 weeks.

Rocks have bacteria on them, and in them. Are they alive? (Btw regardless if something has cells it doesn't mean it's alive)

As what my science teacher told me, the fetus still needs to receive basic needs to let the stem cells differentiate into the respective cells properly. The fetus does this through the cord that connects the mother to the fetus.
And technically living things need oxygen, food and water to survive. The fetus gets these from the mother.
Surely the fetus is a living thing?

Google if viruses are alive, once you google that google why

I genuinely can't tell if you're being serious right now.

Viruses are just complex molecules and have no cells, which is why they aren't considered alive despite doing things that living things do.
Fetuses are made up of cells. Relying on another organism to keep living doesn't affect whether its a living thing or not.

This discussion is about whether or not babies are alive, not whether abortion is right or wrong. The "is abortion murder" question (which is still a different question that "is abortion right or wrong" IMO) is a follow-up on the first question.

It is murder, but not all murder is unethical or immoral.

This is kind of what I'm thinking. I think it's definitely, 100% wrong, but there are a few situations where it would improve the quality of life for everyone involved except the kid, who gets no life, which sucks and is wrong.

Basically, what Fdoou said, except that abortion isn't limited to cases where the birth of the child results in poverty and hardships for everyone, which is what people bring up when they start talking about abortion being justified. I feel like a lot of abortions happen because "Meh, I don't feel like talking care of a kid."
