Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Okay, I just hate it when this happens:
This is when I first downloaded Kerbal Space Program's Demo.
A few minutes later, this happened:
As you can see, it made more time!
Also, if you look closer, the bar actually made significant progress. It just added more time.
Do you encounter things like this when you download stuff?
P.S. It may only happen on Macs.
its your internet speed.
if you can read this....good for you

Yes, it happens a lot, specially when pings increase.
This is a false statement.

That's normal. It just means that your speed dropped, so it now thinks that the download will take longer.

Aha, so it's estimated. Right... how about the time when I downloaded something and it said 10 min. Rhe Incame back and it said 2 hours and 42 minutes. What the heck? Also, I checked 45 min aft r the initial download.
Same as what everyone else said. If you start out a download going at 1MB/s with a 200MB file, it's going to estimate just over 3 minutes. If after 100MB, your download speed drops to 20kb/s because someone in your family started streaming video, your estimated download time will creep up to 85 minutes, even though you already downloaded half the file. After they finish streaming and your download speed returns to 1MB/s, your download time will shoot down to around 1 minute. The computer can't guess what your download speed will be, so it can only give you an estimate based on what your download speed is at the moment. They're overgrown calculators, not psychics.

Ah, I see.
This happens to me too. It's not just Macs, all computers do it. It's just the internet speed fluctuating. My worst case was when I had a download go from five minutes, up to five hours, and back down to five minutes again. Also, Kerbal Space Program is my favorite game!

creature you're wrong, ping has not much to do with the download speed.

Then your computer is different than mine, when lower my computer's ping is, biggest speed has.

What computer, OS, or whatever you have doesn't make any difference. Internet traffic isn't affected by any of that. Lower ping means a (slightly) more responsive internet, but download speeds are rarely affected by ping, if ever. Your download would start (slightly) faster, but once the download gets started, ping doesn't affect things much.

Just test your internet speed and you'll see.

You might see some correlation at times but that is not the same as causation. It's your download speed that matters, not your ping.
