Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Simple Question:
Do you support or oppose gun control?

I support it. People who say that "guns don't kill people, people kill people" technically are correct, but the guns just make it easier.
This dude came up to me once and we got in an argument over this, and one of his "points", was that if we distribute guns to everyone, then there would be less shootings.....
What?
The main problem I have with it though, is that it really wouldn't help anything. There would still be illegal guns, just as there are now. Most muderers don't have registered guns. I don't see how the government could regulate it any more than they do now.

Don't care either way. It won't help. People will always kill people because whyever people kill people.

I oppose it, and here's a couple of reasons why:
1: If you take away guns from law-abiding citizens they will abide by the rule and not have guns. Criminals do not follow laws, therefore why would they not have guns? It would just make criminals have power over the common person.
2: The government would have too much power over the people. That's kinda what communists have done in the past. If the people have no power and the government revolts, the people have no way to change anything.
3: Rampage shooters like soft targets. You don't see massacre shooters go into Fort Knox (large military base full of gold). Most of these shooters end up suiciding anyway. Do these shooters fear the firepower lurking around the gold? Not if they want to die, but what they do fear is not killing a lot of people beforehand. They have a rage in them, and it appears to be always the same. Motive or not, they want to exact revenge.

Half of my friends are hunters, and they really don't like the fact that they have to go through a bunch of security just to shoot a deer. Well, I'm kinda for both ways. We should add just a tiny tad bit more of gun checks and that's about it.

In the US, the 2nd amendment says this:
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
"the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"
I do believe that guns should be controlled just a little, like keeping them away from people with mental instability or criminal backgrounds. But other than that, I believe that people should be allowed to own guns.

One thing to note it the second amendment was written when there was genuine threat of Britain or other countries wanting to invade America again. No one is going to successfully take over America now even if only the armed forces have guns. Not saying that there therefore should be extreme gun control but you should take note that the amendment is pretty outdated.

God forbid that you have to go through "security" to own a gun.... I agree with Stubby... I guess... when he says people should be allowed to own guns, but I would say that there obviously needs to be more control over who has them. I don't know how this control would be implemented, but the extra security isn't bad, its good. Imagine if there was NO control, it would just make it that much easier for psychos to get their hands on guns.

So much America in this thread, lmao.
Anyway, I'd love to shoot a crook right in the face (I support death penalty to criminals, preferably the cruelest possible), but everyone having guns.. what the.. as a non-'merican, it's just too weird for me to think about that. How do people manage to not shoot each other after a discussion or something?

People hardly carry them around with them all day. Guns are left at home.

People who carry small pistols in holsters are usually good people that have defense.
People who go around with an enormous sub-machine gun though...

Nobody plans on it. Unless you're a hunter or a serial killer, that is.

I'm okay with guns... Not nuclear weapons, RPGs, bombs, etc. There is a big difference from the guns that the founding farthers said we could have, and what we have made.
Also, I go to the shooting range on my spare time.

This is important. Times change. People still are banging the constitution (that sounded different than I meant it to), and overstating the second amendment. I guess it comes down to the interpretation of the constitution and whether or not you think its meaning changes depending on the times. I think it does, and our gun ownership is out of control.

- I would have been for it, but this made me think a bit.
I feel like the citizens who want guns, should have to go through some sort of criminal background check before buying them, that way law-abiding citizens can still have them if they wish, eliminating some of the power that the criminals would have. I think this may also remove a few criminals from having the chance to get a gun, but like you said, most will ignore the laws and steal it or something.
Also, someone earlier threw in the "right to bear arms" thing, which makes me think that they shouldn't put restrictions on it.
I could go either way on this...

They should be allowed to own a gun, but it should be more difficult to get a license(e.g.: lots of paperwork, proving you are not a harm to society, you cannot get one if you have a criminal record, etc).

Society needs guns to provide a sufficient level of civillian defence and the chance of an uprising agaisnt a corrupt government, it just sucks when you a society so crap it's riddled with the complete abuse of guns. It's a con you have to tolerate for that level of freedom.
yes cus its the key thing of school shootings

Shooters often kill themselves after killing many others. If they lost guns, they'd probably move on to bombs. As far as they're concerned it has the same outcome.
