It's so funny to see the rest of you trying to find a reason for guardians to not be useful, because you weren't the ones picked.
I haven't been picked as a guardian, and I still fully support the idea. If you think they are useless, I highly suggest you go and reread MrShoe's blog post. It explains exactly why we need them.

1. What happens if someone gets bombers to another level?
2. It rejects newer level 1's from the community if most levels are blocked with this command for protection. Not good for a community that needs to grow.

Guardians are not that bad: just make sure they can't /clearandsave and it will be fine.

@Urban - There are few other restrictions I think need to be put in place too, mostly on the banning. But it is hard to find ways to do that.

Accounts connected to bot can't be used, because EE will make it only for bot.

You can actually detect who is a bot, so not a problem.

There seems to be great concern about the guardians since the beginning. Mostly due to who gets it, and the power that the common EE user can implement. Another problem is those who were nominated (great candidates by the way) are unknown to some users of the community.

This always greatly effects the view of those nominated. I wouldn't vote for someone I had little to no knowledge of right? This is where curiosity kicks in. Simply researching the users history (should the nominee in question have any history, and they do) could change your perspective!

Its like ordering a new flavour of Ice cream you've yet to try, but you see someone else ordering the same flavour and they show that they didn't like it. This thus sets the mentality that that flavour you wanted to try out will be bad based on this observation. Sure, maybe the flavour could be a bad batch, but you would never know unless you try it, right? This applies to many of the arguments here. It could work it you gave it a chance.

1. Umm no never once did I imply that spamming and trolling would EVER be a positive thing unless (keyword here) it's executed perfectly where a world would use trolling/spamming to the worlds advantage.

2. I don't encourage trolling/spamming in any case.

3. You seem to have completely missed the message I said and tried to create something negative in something that had no negativity to begin with.

(also I don't know how to do the X said box message thingy as I'm new to the forum thing)

What he's saying is how you're implying that to find out if something is bad then you must try it out before you can make a judgement. In this case, trolling and spamming.

Also to do the 'X said' box just look at the bottom of a post and you should see the word 'Quote'. Click that and it'll copy the whole message you're quoting and put it in the box.

Ohh now I misunderstood. Needless to say that trolling/spamming is bad in any case. However I meant that the Guardians thing could be a bad case, but unless we'd try it out first we'd never know since this is the first that something like this has happened. I should have specified instead of using a delicious Ice cream metaphor.

So what you're saying is, in order to be a guardian, we should be a policeman. Did you even read shoe's blog post? It specifically said that the job of a guardian is NOT to police people around.

Bad of having guardians:
-If they solve to troll, they can do it easily abusing their powers.
-Most of them don't know when have to /ban or whatever.
-Everyone acts immature a time, it can results in a unfair /ban.
Also, there is much more reasons to we don't have guardians. Sorry, but we don't want guardians, even if they are useful in something, we prefer have spambot in our world than a guardian banning everyone.

A ban is a serious even and won't be done lightly - it will probably require the participation of more than 1 guardian.

All guardian actions will be able to be undone, guardian bans aren't the final say. They do get the final say on kicking players who are breaking the rules and if they are wrongly kicked then the guardian will get warned and enough times - lose their guardian abilities.

I believe MrShoe is supposed to review all of bans (If there are any), so even if all guardians agree, the final say lies with Shoe.
