Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Insane School Blocking Everything

So, hoping if any techies out there can help me.

My school uses a website controller called Securly. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Securly)

It started off pretty bypassable, just using proxies and all that, but then it went into Communist mode. It first started when the proxies on a certain websites disappeared. Then the website itself disappeared. After that, more and more websites and proxies were getting blocked. In a final act of desperation, a certain *cough* intelligent *cough* student found out you can get through the YouTube Education filter by disabling the cookies. But then...it didn't work anymore.

After that, people started to do heavy searching on proxies and sorts. There was even a way of getting through websites using Google Translate. Unfortunately, none of those worked. This is the quite large list of ways to get through websites that didn't work anymore:

FAILED
De-filters
Proxy Servers
Proxy Websites
Downloaded Proxies
https://
VPN connections
DNS filters
Tor Browsers (and anything else like it)
UltraSurf/JonDo
Firefox Proxies
Remote Access
Phone as a Hotspot (school only lets in their own WiFi)
Disabling the Cookies
Disabling Securly via Cookies
Going Incognito (blocked, again)
Portable Browsers
SSH Tunnel

WORKING
Nothing at all.

Here are some details about the laptops:

Chromebook
Disabled Guest Mode
Education Filter
Downloads Disabled

If you have any idea of how to bypass this, please post!

Re: Insane School Blocking Everything

well, since VPNs and hotspots failed, here's a suggestion:

don't get on sites that are blocked. if there's something actually pertaining to schoolwork that's blocked (for example, i was writing an essay over marriage equality, and the word "sex" in URLS was blocked -- which sucked when i was looking up "same-sex marriage"), then go ask the tech office or whatever to unblock it and explain why.

Wow, your school puts a lot of effort on blocking things, but I agree with some man on this one anyway. You most likely have access to almost everything important school-wise so it shouldn't be much of a problem. Plus with the fact that you have IT people that know what they are doing then they could probably block anything that you tried that did work anyway.

Re: Insane School Blocking Everything

I am guessing your school uses same blocking systems as ours. In that case any sexual website would be blocked and any website with the word "game" written anywhere on it would also be blocked. Although I don't think this relates to documentaries and written stuff about gaming. Anything else should be open for use, even youtube. If youtube is blocked for you then it should be very easy to argue on how youtube can be useful to find information.

Otherwise if you want to bypass the system to play games or watch inappropriate content then you should wait until you get home to do that. I don't recommend wasting your school time on this kind of stuff.

There should be a lot of educational gaming websites that your school supports which shouldn't be blocked. Although this usually involves "maths" games it is still better than nothing.

Or you can be sneaky and try to find a game on a website which does not have the word "game" in it so it won't be blocked. I found a tetris game through being sneaky like that, was fun.

Wow I have a great idea! How about not going into blocked websites because it's blocked for a reason?

What about instead hack the administrator computer and remove block?

This is a false statement.

But wouldn't it be harder to hack into the administrator account then get into a blocked website?

Not if you're a truly hacker.

No matter how hax0ry you are, it'd be easier to get into a blocked website.

This sounds like the plot for some crappy 80s film //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/wink

Just find games that work, then play them. 2048 etc are probably good

Re: Insane School Blocking Everything

Honestly I do all my school work at home so I don't see the problem with having fun during school hours. School for me is a waste of time for the most part as far as doing work goes because I have more resources at home. Good luck figuring it out

Your school blocks websites via their DNS servers. Most of the problem of bypassing are the restrictions on the chromebook itself. If you are able to boot the chromebook into another version of Linux this would eradicate all these restrictions. Bypassing the DNS after that is trivial.

Re: Insane School Blocking Everything

I don't know anything about ChromeBooks sry.
Its booting an Chrome OS or something?
The most easy way is to avoid the Chrome OS totally using an Linux image on a pendrive.
Then you will have ADMIN powers on the PC even totally deleting Chrome OS! https://wiki.everybodyedits.com/images/c/c0/069_LOL

Re: Insane School Blocking Everything

guys guys guys, I mean the school blocks websites that don't even have anything bad in it. For example:

Wikipedia
Google Maps (and Google Earth)
Google Images
Online Calculators

And for some reason they blocked coolmathgames.com and I do not know why. And here's the most absurd one yet:

amazon.com

And plus the teachers barely know anything about computers. Once I was trying to get an image from Google and the teacher told me to use clip art. I was on my school email.

Re: Insane School Blocking Everything

My school used to not block Wikipedia, but they blocked Wikimedia for being a "blog site". As it turns out, their stylesheets and other stuff are stored on Wikimedia, so Wikipedia didn't really work very well.

If they are blocking everything, why do they bother having internet at all?

They say it's only for projects, but yet we only have little selections to research from. Plus, half of the homework we do is online.

NEWEST REPORT: they blocked Discovery because some fifth graders were watching Naked and Afraid. Discovery Education still works though. :O
