And this is the on/off mechanism.
You have to push hard down on that broken mechanism and twist your finger clockwise/counterclockwise to make it dimmer/brighter. When I noticed the lights were on they were on their brightest.

No, the mechanism doesn't just turn itself. You need to apply a ton of pressure on it to turn it on/off. This has never happened before...

It's been like that (broken) for 2-3 years maybe?
The device itself (or the lights) aren't broken. In fact, they work perfectly. The handle simply came off without affecting anything internally.
