Ok, you can lie about your gender, but that just shows that you're immature and somewhat sexually confused.
Second, how on earth is it irrelevant on the internet? That literally made no sense at all.
It would be nice to know whether to say "he" or "she" when you're talking about someone, and no one wants to say "Are you a dude." sounding rude and ignorant.
