Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Old topics, Same idea

That's it. It's starting to get annoying how some topic are being locked or "some" people are getting warnings for creating a topic. You can't use a topic that was already made before with the same idea, but you can't grave dig that topic to revise the idea. If this keeps on going on, all the topics in the world will be used up. This seems like no one will be able to bring a certain topic back up.

Ex. I made a topic about music. -> Bad because the topic was already made.
I post in an old topic about music instead. -> Bad because that is grave digging.

Who knows, maybe this topic was made before?

You can grave dig an old topic if it's not a useless post you grave dig with.

That's what I thought, but sometimes you get a warning anyway. :/

Can you link me to a thread where someone got a warning with a useful post?

If you're talking about the warning to ARN64, he gravedug a topic just to say that he didn't know the answer to OP's question.

Re: Old topics, Same idea

Actually your right.. i've seen people getting warnings for gravedigging topics, then topics being deleted for already being made....
Just saying... Maybe this would be something for the mods to discuss, (along with clarification of   other rules) so that like all the mods are handling things the same way...

Have you seen a thread get deleted/locked because a dead thread already covered the exact same topic? (excluding duplicate game/forum suggestions)

I'm asking because of the recent wave of "OMG $100 for a diamond block, LAME" threads. Many people started new threads to discuss that exact same topic, which is why most of them got locked. Even my thread got locked. https://wiki.everybodyedits.com/images/c/c0/069_LOL

Also, if a thread is gravedug to legitimately revive a discussion, that's not against the rules. The catch is, posting a Twitter-sized reply that just says, "I agree with this," or, "<username>, you're dumb,"   is not legitimately reviving a thread. If you want to revive, you need to post a reply that justifies why the thread should be discussed more; give a well-thought-out opinion that is both relevant to the dead topic, and breathes new life into the topic.

Just so you know, I wasn't talking about Boom topics after a recent update although I agree with your points.

Ok. I'm sorry I misunderstood.

I know it's tough to recall specific examples of things like this (for me, at least), but if you see/remember any other threads or warnings that didn't seem to break the gravedig or duplicate thread rules, please post a link in the reply; This isn't the first time I've seen members voice their concerns about the vagueness of forum rules, and I'm interested in discussing this further.

I've just gotta say that it's not gravedigging as long as your post is useful, and the thread could possibly be expanded.

And if it still even matters. Don't bump up three month old questions about a then-recent update even if they never got answered.
