Who thinks we need new moderators?

I think this board worries about moderators too much.

I don't think any more are needed because I haven't seen anything that wasn't moderated already.

Too many moderators will make some people think they should either act like a moderator or that they should be a moderator too. You can't upset the balance of things.

Just because someone doesn't post in every thread they can get their hands on doesn't mean they're not active.

That doesn't mean things were moderated that didn't need to be. Also, a lot of this seems to be more about replacing than adding.

Well, just keep an auto-refresher on the homepage at the bottom and see just how many times Chewy gets on. I'd say maybe once a week. A few times at the most.

I think the current moderation team needs to make use of the 'moderated by' feature and have certain mods only mod certain boards. If all of the mods are global except one, it kinda defeats the purpose. Having 2 or 3 specialized mods is more effective then having 1 global mod, as long as there's a global mod there to back up the specialized mods if there's no mod for a section getting attacked.

Better to be all global imo. Recently I've been up at night when there's no one else on? Then a raid happens in another section, and I'm powerless to help other than a ban.

I'm sorry, I should've clarified. I meant if we were to add more moderators, it'd be better to have specific section mods rather than a bunch of global mods. We have enough globals.

I agree. Maybe one or two mods per section. That would be the ultimate raid-killer, especially if they were in opposite time zones.

If all the mods are online at the exact same time, yeah it would be very useful.

However, when we combine time limitations AND space limitations it greatly decreases the amount of moderating done.

Well, it seems that there's always a global mod/admin on, so there's no point in having any more. Section mods would just strengthen it all.

You mean ADDING section mods?

Don't really see the need, and like D55 said a while back you're not just "making it stronger", you're getting in the way of other mods.

Not sure HOW new mods would get in the way, but apparently they would.

jake is nice.
chewy goes unnoticed for me. i dont see him a lot. when i do hes reasonable.
different55 can be plain rough at times and especially to new members of the forum.
