I was wondering how big the difference in time is from here to the UK. 6 hours.

Does anyone know what an admin does?   I don't remember the last time I saw one do anything.   So tell us, oh great moderator Chewy, what would you do concerning mods/admins if you were able?

Admins basically keep the forum up and running with new and old features. They don't necessarily have to answer reports. Mods are the ones who answer the reports. Think of it like this:
Admin-Owner
Mod-Security

I agree in that some administrators show power and not skill, e.g., Chris or RPGMaster (not sure if RPG does anything other than make graphics).

Other admins like Cyclone, Rurigok, and Alex are just there to help with whatever is forum-related.

As far as I can tell the forums are perfectly fine. I mean whatever little spam we do get is taken care of by the mods. Plus the mods all have different time zones so it's very rare there isn't one on here.

If you think about there is: Bass5098, Jakery, Chewy, Different55, Rurigok, Cyclone, and RPGMaster2000. I think that is more than enough.

7 people, nearly 4 hours a day each to cover everything.   Do you actually think they're on that much?   Personally, I think a few of those you mentioned aren't really worthy of being mods/admins anyhow.

Aside from the occasional raider, this forum is in tip top shape. Obviously there is still argument and spam, but that is usually taken care of. It is very rare abuse goes un-noticed on this forum

And people learn from experience Twipply. Sure some of the mods may not have been the most ideal mods, but it is good for them to learn from experience. It is good for them to learn how to treat other people and obtain leadership qualities. I'm sure that most of them have come a long way from when they started.

But we do need someone to replace you with your bonehead decisions. Sure, you do what your supposed to do but sometimes you do stuff for no other reason then "because I can". You do what your supposed to do but in a terrible fashion.

More like they need to be logical, reasonable, active readers and nearly always right.

Name 3 people who would be good and don't have a single warning.

But we'd only need to name one!   I don't think it'd be that hard, anyhow.

A good forum mod isn't necessarily someone who is smart. A good forum mod is a mod that keeps the forums under control, and makes fair judgment based on facts and not friendships.

Just because you are smart doesn't mean you are always right. It takes more than brains to be a leader.

The sad thing is, there are more admins than mods, and the only people that come on are the mods.

Haha, that's cool.   Although, I think the chances of my modship are rather slim.   Regardless of whether I'd be awesome or not, I've told some of the higher-ups what I think of them and their thoughts all too often.   We're not exactly on speaking terms at the moment.   Not only that, but I seem to recall people asking for more/different mods on several occasions, clearly it hasn't happened, perhaps because Cyclone isn't the biggest fan of reason.

That'd make them a pretty smart mod in my eyes.   Not that I ever said they had to be smart to begin with.

Will Cyclone do anything if he reads this?   He currently has 3 admins who literally don't do anything, 1 who's absent, and another who's kind of a ****.   No, I don't think he'll do anything this time just like the times before.

Alex is gone.
So practically 2 run this forum.

The mods Different55, Chewy, and EDJ moderate. But that isn't enough.
Bass5098 is fine but he doesn't come on much either.

2 admins, 3 mods.

We are in trouble at this point.

While I may not follow his every move, I'd suggest that Riru is actually pretty crappy from what I have seen.     If you take this thread as an example, why do you think he closed it?   I don't think that guy broke any rules.   Nor did he post in the wrong place.   Was it just because Riru thought it was a stupid idea?   I dunno.   If so, how is it any more stupid than Chewy wanting to get -1k rep to start with?   They're just as arbitrary goals as eachother.   If he thought the thread had nowhere to go, then that's not true either.   Chewy himself could've appeared and said it was a great idea.

Basically, moderate based upon logic and reason, not on whatever you feel like.   I think too few of our mods/admins actually follow that.

Actually we've had people in mind to become moderators for a while now, we've just been waiting for no apparent reason.

So do something about it?

I actually agree with Rurigok on that lock. Sure he could have explained why he locked it but I do agree that all the topics about my rep are pointless and getting annoying.

Sure there's a point to it.   The point is to decide whether it'd be a nice family activity to mess with your rep some more.   It's pretty dumb and perhaps even annoying, for sure, but it still had a limited purpose.
