Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: Rep Discussion

Too many little kids here to actually have the reputation system work.

The angry little kids -rep someone when they're told they're wrong.

The little kids that want to be popular beg for and trade reps because they think rep will make them cool.

The entire rep system has been ruined by little kids, which is why rep doesn't mean a thing. In theory, the rep system is a great idea that would allow helpful members to become more visible and prominent when they post. This would make it easier for new members to see which people are the most contributing members of the forums. Unfortunately, the above flaws with the system (little kids) are what has ruined the rep system. Someone with a high reputation isn't necessarily a helpful forum member, and there are a lot of members with low reputations that have been on the forums for a long time and are very helpful.

tl;dr In theory, the rep system should work, but misuse has corrupted it.

Re: Rep Discussion

Divide your total +rep number with the amount of days you've been on the forum.

219/224=0.97768

This is the amount of reps you get per day, on average.

10.0000+: 10.00+ rep per day, aka, extremely large amount of rep, aka, Jesus.
1.00000-9.99999: One rep every 1.00-9.99 day(s), aka, large amount of rep, aka, loved
0.10000-0.99999: One rep every 10.00-99.99 days, aka, fair amount of rep, aka, liked
0.01000-0.09999: One rep every 100.00-999.99 days, aka, very little rep, aka, acknowledged
0.00100 or less: One rep every 1000 (or more) days, aka, no rep at all, aka, unloved and/or unacknowledged.

I would be the second option, "one rep every 1.00-9.99 day(s), aka, large amount of rep, aka, loved".

I like this formula because one, it says I'm loved, and two, because it does not look at the overall number, rather the magnitude of others' "love" for you.

Yeah, well, you know that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

Re: Rep Discussion

By +rep do you mean only the +reps and not -reps?

Re: Rep Discussion

Bump.

Replaced Question 4 and added Question 6. Q6 is related to Haides and his rep.

I personally think that you should be able to -rep as many times as you want, as long as they are legitimate reasons and you're not specifically looking for their bad posts. Same for +rep.

Re: Rep Discussion

You should add something up in there for revenge reps.

Re: Rep Discussion

"If someone -reps you, can you justify -repping him back? Under any circumstances."

The answer is no. If you think it's a bad reason, then just get it removed.

Re: Rep Discussion

6) If you -rep the same person more than once, say 3 times in a short period of time, does that automatically make you biased? Should you just use 1 -rep for all your purposes?

Well, if you see a crappy post and -rep it, then five hours later, you see another, then another, what are you supposed to do?   "Garsh, I want to -rep you for this horrible post, and I'm able to, but I won't because that would make me seem biased!"   No!   If it's a post that deserves a -rep, do it.   That's why if I see a bad post, I don't even look at the avatar, username, or sig.   I try to keep all -reps objective.

Re: Rep Discussion

So you're saying it's better to -rep because of simple mistakes a person makes and not judging their character?
