Why don't images show up in quotes?

I want to know why images don't show up in quotes. Standard practice, or forum bug?

They are replaced with the URL tag. You have to manually switch the

[url][/url]

with

[img][/img]

It should be standard practice, but it usually isn't.   You generally don't need to be able to view the image you are quoting, so it saves our (the forum users') bandwidth.
