Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

What do you mean? It's the same forum software (except with a buttload of weird, nonrandom bugs), same community (except half of it is gone), and the same game (except its not getting any more lively). The main difference is the staff rearrangement.

This has sort of bugged me too, but at this point I've just gotten used to adding two lines instead of one.

The biggest difference to me is the lack of userbase. Both ingame and on the forums.
(What was that about mods derailing topics...?)
Yeah, well, you know that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

This is the parser.php code differences: http://atil.la/x/etc/parser/
The left is the original, the right is the modified in use.

Well, crap. Where else could this be coming from? Maybe something in post.php?

Bugs, hand full of active people from the old forums, and the admins omg. The only admin I decently like on here is Different55...

What's so bad about current staff? I'd like to know.
As for bugs, it isn't as bad as it potentially could be.
This forum isn't gaining any monetary profits and therefore isn't really in any obligation to be perfect.
The functionality isn't as bad as Different55 seems to imply. I haven't seen a 'buttload' of bugs.

Also youtube isn't working because that "URL" automatically added.
Everybody edits, but some edit more than others

A buttload is a completely subjective number and generally refers to any amount that is either significantly or insignificantly higher than should be expected.

No, there is an SQL error for those that don't cache the forum.
I'm not sure what you're changing Meredith.
This bug should be fixed though, one of the few times that I cannot find the cause.

What in the world is going on behind the scenes?
On an related note, how often do you guys take backups of the PHP files? In case something ever happens that leaves the forums in an unusable and apparently unfixable state, it'd be nice to have a daily backups that are kept for a week or month before being discarded, so instead of hunting down errors, you just blast away all changes to the forum code made in the last few hours/days.

We do make backups of earlier PHP files. We don't have anything like Github/Bitbucket, however.

With my own website, I have a cron job to backup everything to an external hard drive daily and keep everything for one month.

I believe HostGator has daily backups as well for files, I'm not sure though.
It has database backups, though they charge around $10 to rollback.

They charge you for a 5 minute job? What kind of stupid stuff is that?
