Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

This shows the amount of spam accounts blocked by this plugin every day, I couldn't believe it when it said 152 accounts tried to register on one day.
I just deleted a ton of accounts that had no posts and hadn't visited since 2012.
This should clear things up a bit.

I find it interesting that you guys have more traffic, but my sites have more attempted bot registrations. On average, a bot tries to register at my site every 8 minutes.

That is strange, one would be inclined to take the position that traffic was directly proportional to the amount of spam bots yet the evidence points otherwise.
I think it means that my forum is easier to find on google. This forum seems strangely invisible to a lot of bots.

yeah you said that this forum was immune. any reasons you could think of why? maybe because it's a mirror? i saw a lot more spambots on the original forum.

They cannot register because of the honeypot mod. But that doesn't explain why they don't at least try and register.

If they have no post how they spam?

Accounts regardless if they have posts or not, take up physical space within the database, and more useless entries makes the database queries enumerate slower.
